Well our local CC uses a point scale system. 402 applied 100 accepted. I was the lowest gpa acccepted but one of the higher net scores (91 comp) so my points totaled 85.8 and the lowest accepted was 84.1, highest was 100.
So for those of you who dont think it can be done with a low GPA it can. I am by no means proud of my GPA, and there are circumstances that caused it ( for the last year it has been a 3.75). It was a 2.0 when I started my nursing pre reqs and i now have 100 hours so it was hard to even raise it to the 2.73.
I just wanted to share for those who are discouraged by their low GPA. It IS doable. I am so excited and cannot wait till fall RN program here in Chattanooga.
I followed CSAntos guide that is a sticky here. Basically just used the ERI study guide and kept practicing it over and over again. I also paid the 25 bucks or whatever to take the timed practice test. It helped with time management. Chattanooga State is the CC.
Thanks for all the congrats guys

Hi...were you accepted into Chattanooga State's nursing program? Just asking because Im from Chattanooga!:)
Thanks for your post, you give me strength to not to discourage myself to take the prerequisites. Because overall my gpa is 2.52, I haven't take my prerequisites yet. I just got my LVN license and I still doubt myself if I am going to get in the RN program because of my low gpa. Now I've read your post, I'm going to study hard to do well in my prerequisites next year. Thanks!!!

My gpa was lower than 2.52 when I started. In fact it was a 2.07. I had several classes that I withdrew from (when I was fresh out of highschool) after the withdraw deadline which left incomplete/fail. One semester of retakes brought me up to almost a 2.5 (14 hours with a 3.75) . I wish you the best of luck and I'm sure you will do great. My school looked at the pre req gpa mainly (minimum 2.0 overall) so as long as the overrall was met the pre req gpa was calculated based on point. So if you have a 4.0 on the pre reqs it would count as having a 4.0 overall. Thanks for your post!
