Moving to Chicago-what is Rush Medical Center like???

U.S.A. Illinois

Published

I'm planning to move to Chicago in the next couple of months. My Immigration paperwork is at the embassy & i'm waiting for a date for my interview.

I have an interest in working in Renal transplant at Rush Medical Center. Does anyone have any comments on this hospital or better still work there??

I would appreciate any advice re hospitals in Chicago as i am moving from Ireland & have limited information about hospitals other than what my agency has told me.

Dont work there but they have an excellent reputation

I worked there as a new grad a number of years ago, and can't say enough good things!

If you are unfamiliar with the city, I would strongly recommed that you investigate living arrangements and commuting before commiting to any particular hospital. There are areas of the city that are difficult to access from other areas and you could find yourself spending an hour or more commuting each way unless you plan carefully.

Good luck and safe travels!

I also do not work there, but I have heard nothing but good things from a coworker who worked at Rush for years. Excellent hospital..etc. So good luck and welcome to Chicago!:wink2:

I have not worked ther but have know nurses who have. I have heard good things about several of the units MICU, bone marrow, med/onc and NICU. Per the prevois post, be sure you are comfortable with the area before you commit.

I work on the Transplant Unit at Rush as a student nurse and I love it. The managers are great as well as the staff. I'll be a nurse soon (i have to re-take NCLEX) but they have been nothing but supportive. An excellent hospital that earns it status as Magent not only for the care they deliver but also impose upon thier staff. I say go for it!

ill be graduating soon from a nursing school here in the philippines.

id like to know if work experience is a must, nad what exams do chicago hospitals require.

thanks. i hope somebody can tell me about this

I just graduated from Rush nursing program. It's an excellent hospital. When I did my clinicals there, the staff were very supportive. I had a wonderful experience there. So, I'll say go for it.

Good luck!
