Um... where are all those valiant defenders of ObamaCare that were here a year ago? Totally flaming anyone who dared to have any doubts about how Democrat promises square with reality.
Debacle.
Train wreck.
Disaster.
Total fail.
Incomprehensible.
Illogical.
Impossible.
Unrealistic.
Just some of the adjectives applied to the roll out by radical Tea Party news outlets like the Washington Post and the New York Times, CBS and NBC.
I currently pay $800 per month for my employer's second-cheapest plan, which is $25 per week more than the catastrophic plan. I don't make much, and Hubby hasn't had a job that provided health insurance in 5 years (unless you count the worthless mini-med plan offered by Sears). We have 2 babies on the way, a family health plan will cost us about $1100 per month. According to my state's health exchange website (which works just fine), it will be cheaper to buy a silver plan or bronze plan through the state, even without a subsidy.Medicare was initially attacked as socialist. Working out the initial kinks took out about 2 years. Today, no mainstream politician would dream of destroying Medicare.
In 2009 even Obama said Medicare was going broke.
Does more government really work?
Um... where are all those valiant defenders of ObamaCare that were here a year ago? Totally flaming anyone who dared to have any doubts about how Democrat promises square with reality.Wow. Well said. I couldn't agree more. The devastation this is going to cause to the health care system is immeasurable! You don't hear how Medicare was cut 716 Billion dollars and 1.2 trillion in taxes were created to fund the ACA very often. Those cuts hits hospitals and nursing homes most, so of course we're going to see staffing cuts, and decreases in salary which many have already experienced! These entities have to make ends meet to stay open, if reimbursement keeps going down it gets hard to maintain the status quo.
Home health care should grow as they push people out of the hospital faster, and patients that may have needed to go to a nursing home will go straight home.
There may be an increased demand for nurses in the future, but will the cost/benefit make it worth becoming a nurse in the future?? Doubt it! NP's will benefit because so many primary docs will pack it in, and new med students will opt to specialize so they actually make a decent wage to pay back the ridiculous amount of student loans they'll have.
I think you could've passed legislation to have insurance company's cover pre-existing conditions, lift coverage caps, and keep young adults on their parents plans a little longer, but at 26 they should be on their own! The funny thing is that contradicts how the ACA was set up, it was made to get the young whipper snappers to enroll at record numbers to help fund it, instead it keeps people on their parent's plan til 26?? Like really!
1 month after the ACA passed, my company raised my insurance premiums 50%, the next year they had to switch companies to keep the insurance affordable for its employees. I have great coverage that I pay quite a bit for, but I too shopped the ACA website for the hell of it, and the plans offered were a joke, super expensive for far less coverage across the board with huge deductibles!
All in all, it was poorly planned, poorly implemented, and does way more harm that good!

Correct, no politician would dream of destroying Medicare because they wouldn't get the votes. But the sad thing is that by 2024 it's on track to be done! It can't keep going when less it put in then goes out. So unfortunately, the money that I am paying into won't even be there! Another bad plan by the government...too good to be true!
"Ain't no half of people going to lose insurance"? Interesting (and interestingly worded) assertion. The polices are not being replaced. They are being told that they now have to go to the exchange and find a policy. Many of the policies that are compliant have premiums many times their current premiums, and deductibles much, much higher than their current deductibles. Yes, yes, I know that Nancy Pelosi and her ilk insist that his majesty's lies are acceptable because all these people losing their insurance will be getting "better" insurance. If better means deductibles 3x higher and premiums 4x higher, then sure, these lucky folks are in the clover! In most people's minds, this is not some grand benefit, instead it's a real problem. The estimate is that 51% of us with employer plans will be in the same boat as those losing their insurance now when the employer mandate takes effect. It makes sense to me. All these people are losing policies because the policies are not ACA compliant. It stands to reason that a great many employer plans also won't be ACA compliant. But hey, I'm sure the people who are behind NSA phone tapping and the IRS are only going to be looking out for our best interest. And in case it slipped by you, that "ain't" nothing but sarcasm.
The man lied to the American's 29 times "if you like your plan, you can keep it period"
So, now that the web site is running much better (and millions are now able to sign up right away) , what is in the ACA (that will forever be known as Obamacare as truly smart people cast aside the spin and talking points) is beginning to become rather apparent. Obamacare will have to be fully implemented next year before people see more of the "benefits". Forget about the average cost per family of four... we will soon see how this affects real people in real families that have lost real jobs and acquire real illnesses.
But everything will be OK... it is for the greater good.
A friend of mine had a double mastectomy about 2 years ago. Because of the ACA, she can not be turned down because of a preexisting condition, she cannot be held to lifetime maximums, and she will save $1,300 per month on insurance through the exchange.
The ACA is working fine for a lot of people, especially for those who live in states that care if their citizens have insurance coverage.
Did you detractors really think online access issues were some sort of insurmountable problem? Grow up.
I Currently work for a hospice in Arizona. For the past year our company health insurance has been thru United Health care. I pay 60 dollars every two weeks for just myself. Co pays for DR visits 35 pcp and 45 for a specialist. Max out of pocket per year 1500. Great pharmacy coverage too. Starting January 1st my company is switching to Aetna. 1500 deductible. Per our HR person. Deductable has to be met before insurance will pay anything including pharmacy! Oh and My premium is going up to 160 dollars a paycheck. I am so disappointed. Thank you President Obama for screwing average working class americans. Now the poor and the illegals will have better coverage then I do!
All of us must pay more so that everyone can have health care. That's it, end of story. Not quit whining.
It should have been single payer, universal coverage, but the populace is too stupid to accept that, so this hybrid approach is the best anyone could manage for now. Don't blame the Obama administration for trying to fix it. We have to take the blame on our collective selves for refusing to see what really needs to be done. The ACA is a band-aid. When America is ready to accept a real fix and abandon the notion of free market health care, only then will there be real improvement.

My husband tried to sign up. It would cost us over $1,000 to get insured and our deductible is so high that we wouldn't even be able to use our insurance.
We haven't been to the doctor's in years. We eat healthy, exercise daily.
Here's what I think....
1/3 live in a household with government assistance. As a whole, we are getting more obese, not as willing to work hard as we once did, and waiting for a hand-out.
Basically we'd be paying for others to get coverage that we can't even afford to use ourselves!
No wonder people quit and get on welfare...it's easier and free!
