I would probably go back to working with adults with severe and profound mental retardation.........talk about a group of people in need of so much and with also so much to offer is you just but look.

Maybe be a travel agent on the side.....get some kicker travel benefits.........

Volunteer time in a flower shop.....until I proved my worth and they paid me the dime I need.....

Travel, travel, travel,travel.......and no I am not prepared.............but time will tell

so I am a nurse........at this moment.................

My dream, maybe when I retire from nursing, is to own and operate a coffee house. The kind where folks regularly come in, sit, drink coffee and chat a while. Heck, who knows, maybe I'll open a whole chain of coffee houses. Probably will even offer extensive discounts to all old retired nurses.

A Librarian. NO I am not prepared, I need an MLS, and I can't afford it, and no hospital will pay tuition for a non-nsg degree. And yes, to be surrounded by books, I think I would love it.

I would go back and do what I did working my way through nursing school.....be a Bartender.

My dealings in the ED everyday with the ETOHers make me MORE than qualified for this position....I had lots of fun when I did it.

If (when) I leave nursing, I'm going to open up a cake & candy shop. I already have quite a business going. It's just a matter of making it official.

I think I'm prepared for it. I'd have to buy large, commercial size ovens and a fridge, but it's nothing my mastercard can't handle!

It would be absolute heaven to me to do this

I did leave nursing and to tell you the truth, I'm absolutely miserable.

That deserves explaining so here goes. I went to a Vocational High School that had an LPN program so when I graduated at 18, I took the boards and became a nurse. While I mostly loved it, there were plenty of things that I didn't enjoy. Most of all, I never had the chance to truly experience the ages of 18 to 24. At 24, everything hit me and I felt like one of my elderly patients so I decided to take a break. 3 years later, I'm still in that mode but like I said, I'm miserable. I work in an office and while my nursing organizational skills have earned me a few stars, that's the limit to my satisfaction.

I'm currently in school working on a BSN and in the process of reinstating my nursing license. Maybe if I had been a little older, and wiser for that matter, I never would have let the license lapse but at the time I thought I'd never do nursing again. Today I have recurring dreams (rather nightmares) of being in the middle of a shift realizing that I don't have my license.

While I'm grateful that I was able to see that I needed a break, I wish that I'd been a little smarter about the license. I know there will be many undesirable aspects when I rejoin the field but at least I can feel good about my daily work and get satisfaction.

Until then, I'll go back to my desk with boredom........:)
