Hopefully I get this job I've interviewed at 3 times because if not I'm done trying to be a cna. This is complete crap, I'm not applying to work for NASA, it's a cna job, it doesn't take a Master's degree to do it.
Also every place that didn't hire me can kiss my butt. Sick of this crap.
I understand. I know it's hard out there, I mean I have about 8 years of experience in pre hospital care, critical care, and outpatient care - I work in retail... Yep. Minimum wage, but it pays for gas, and textbooks :) Off to college.
I really hope you get this job. It's a shame that grads as eager as you and many others have to cope with frustrations like this. Best of luck :-) let us know!

Thanks! I will be in the same boat as you if I don't get this job. In fact I've already started applying to a few retail places, even though I told myself I would never work retail again in my life .I also need money for textbooks :)

I agree, CNA job are hard to come by anymore. Ive been a cna for YEARS, and recently moved to a new area for the boyfriends job, think I can find a job? No. I ended up with a slightly more than minimum wage medication tech job at a small assisted living home. It sucks, does not pay the bills, but is flexible with nursing school at least.
As hard as it is keep your head up, something will come along.
I'm old school, people. Thirty years ago, a nurse, an aide, a whatever only had to walk IN the door of a SNF to be hired. Now, not even can nurses not find jobs, the downward pressure means even CNAs cannot find jobs, even while the requirements to be a nurse, a CNA, etc. continue to be raised. Yet? Here, we are, in this forum, where so many hopelesss people can't find work- but so many are willing to chastise this poster for 'attitude'. Again, this is why the nursing 'profession' continues to devolve and waste away...there is 'no' common support. Nurses just seem to hate themselves, and allow themselves to become more marginalized why pay drops and drops.
For the posters that claim 'attitude' is the reason a job seeker, ever more desperate, cannot obtain a job: We'd all like to know what sort of 'attitude' actually is appropriate for anyone that cannot obtain employment. And we'd like to know how to obtain that attitude, to help us alter our paths, so that we can find a job?
Which of you wants to enlighten the forum? Thanks.
I am sorry its been such a struggle to find a job. Hopefully you will get the job. But if you dont Have you been putting Apps in online or have you been going to the places. maybe you could call them first and ask them when a good time might be to pick up an app. Wear something nice and you might get an interview on the spot. Just don't give up and hopefully the right job will come along.

What I meant was the the OPs first post was vibrating with anger, foul language and disdain for the job. Quite often this attitude will shine through in an interview. In this tough market even the smallest thing can do you in at an interview.
Retail, hmmm
Whether being a CNA or Nurse, it's all the same, what they care about is customer service
As some have suggested, you should dress professional and go all the nursing homes in the area
And apply in person, if they tell you it's all on line ask to leave your resume, network, network, network
You are going to have to out compete everyone else.
It's not going to get any better, to get into nursing school, your first nursing job, it's all the same
You are going to have to sell yourself better and out compete everyone else
Thanks! I will be in the same boat as you if I don't get this job. In fact I've already started applying to a few retail places, even though I told myself I would never work retail again in my life .I also need money for textbooks :)

What amazes me is that most every place that teaches medical related fields tells their prospective students that field is in demand. Heard it for pharmacy tech and CNA. Everyone I knew that went to Pharmacy tech school failed to find a job; don't know about CNA's. They want experienced people from what I was told and from what I read in the ads for them. People can be snarky and say well, maybe it's your attitude, but I'm willing to bet you that they aren't looking for jobs and have been at the place of employment for a while. It's frustrating when you are told by your instructors how well the job market is and when you actually start looking for a job and discover employers can be picky because the market is so over saturated with eager graduates like yourself.
