Several threads already list specifics of the required score needed to pass the English exam; please look for it.
The Visa Screen Certificate is needed for immigration and has nothing to do with the licensure requirements, and CA does not have a language requirement if you are not going for the IP interim permit. And you also need to take and pass the CGFNS exam to get that, so most do not go that route.

Sorry, but it seems that your scores can't be considered for a visa screen even though you got an overall band of 6.5 or greater, but if your speaking part is not 7.0, your result won't qualify for your visa screen requirement.
I read some threads on here, too; yesterday, they said that the US requires an overall band score of 6.5 and 7 for speaking, and with writing, reading, and listening - the score won't matter as long as it's not less than 6. My friend got 7 for speaking and listening and 6 for writing091 and reading.
Hello Silverdragon. I got some questions for you about my predicament. I considered going to Australia for a bridging program, but my IELTS band score permits me only for the US, so I considered taking NCLEX instead. Is it okay that I will process my visa screen before taking NCLEX? Because I'm a lil anxious that my IELTS will expire.
