I just took my NCLEX-PN on Tuesday. I have the constant feeling that I need to vomit. I had several SATA and several "you are teaching a patient about XX, what would you include." Had three questions on phenochromocytoma, which I had NO idea.......then the computer shut off at 85! EVERYONE that I've talked to says that is a good thing. The valedictorian of my class had 85....but I still feel like I failed big time. Are these people realistic, or just trying to be nice? Is there truth to the "85 Questions is Good" thing?
Please help!

The NCLEX exam is designed to cut off when it is determined whether you are a safe nurse or not. That being said, you either did really well, or really poorly. If you did really well congrats. If you didn't pass, keep your head up, many have failed and gone on to become great nurses. I wish you well..

Everyone feels like they fail after taking the NCLEX, there's just so much riding on it. I got 85 questions on NCLEX-PN and I passed.

Honey dont worry, its most likely that you passed. How do you feel about the questions that you answered overall that you can remember? My computer shut off at 85 too and I was happy!; mainly bc I was tired of sitting at the computer letting it burn my eyes to death plus I was glad to know that it was over and done with. After it was over, I didnt feel sure if I'd passed or not; I got my answer on the bon website about 10 hours later.:yeah:By the way, I only took it 1 time. It seems like it just happened really but, Ive been a nurse now for 4 years! Now its time to get that RN. Once you find out you passed, do whatever you can to find a job but REGISTER FOR SCHOOL IMMEDIATELY if it is your goal to become an RN; DON'T STOP!
Again, dont worry. Let me be the first to congratulate you on your accomplishment on becoming a LPN!

I got 85 also, been an RN 15 years now. I hope you passed. Welcome to the trenchs, pay attention to the older nurses, without them I would have quit the first year.
Thanks Brown Eyed...
I just graduated in December and have applied to an RN program. Hopefully I pass this test, because I need my license for the RN program. I guess my problem is in school, when we had a test, for the most part there was a right and wrong answer. With the NCLEX, I was certain about VERY few questions.
Most importantly I just have to stay positive and realize that if I don't pass, it doesn't mean I'm a failure or going to be a bad nurse!
Thanks for the encouragement!! :)

I got 85 questions for my NCLEX. When it shut down I thought, 85 questions..I passed. I knew it was either I did really well or did really poorly. I didn't feel like I didn't know the answers. Handed my things to the proctor and off I walked out the door. But as I hit the exit to the building an uncontrolable fear took hold..maybe I just thought I knew most of the answers, maybe I bombed bad..maybe...the ride home was horrendous, I went from being confident that I passed, to listening to the voice that said "ya well maybe you failed". Drove myself right to my school and just fell into the chair in the manager of the programs chair in near tears. She looked at me and laughed, she said you got 85? I'd bet my right arm you passed. You have more of a chance of passing your first time taking the test than you do of failing. Try to keep that thought in your head..makes the waiting just a bit easier.
48 hrs later, the word PASSED was on the screen.
