I want to throw up!

Published

hey everyone...

so, i took my nclex today and i am starting to freak out! i had 82 questions and i am having mixed feelings about it! part of me thinks that i passed, because i got the last question right, but another part of me doesn't think so. :o and now i have to wait 48 hours to find out the results! i don't want to have to go through this again if i fail! i also dont want to have to spend another $200 and be demoted to a nurse extern for the next 45 days! plus, all of my friends that have taken it, arent picking up their phones, so i cant even relate to them right now. i was wondering if anyone knew the odds of someone passing with less than 100 questions and if anyone else is in my situation. thanks

if you got the last one right you are in good shape , congrats!!!!!

Good luck, you are juz passing through the same phase every one has.

So hope for the best.

getting the last question right or wrong does not determine the result of the test.

i just finished a review class with an ex-board member and he told us that it is true because once you pass question 85 you are 1-1 with answering the questions so once you get enough right to pass then it doesnt aks you anymore and the same with if you answer it wrong, they will not ask another question.

I don't know what to think. I hope that I passed, but I still don't know. my friends that took it were all like '82 questions, thats strange?', but what does that mean? i was too stupid for 75, so at 82 the computer shut off? AHH, the suspense of knowing is killing me. i am sure many of you know who have taken it, that this really sucks to have to wait and see. i hope me getting the last question right means something, but it might not. i guess i will have to wait like everyone else to find out! for some of you, thanks for the support and i'll keep you posted!:icon_roll

Hey, i really hope that this is true! I just took it today and had 174 questions and i am almost positive that i got the last one right. but i got a ton of hard priority and some basic knowledge questions and maybe only 4-5 SATA! Im sooo sick to my stomach! I am terrified that i failed. i just hope my anxiety didnt get the best of me. i hoping that i got so many because i was able to recover if i was doing poorly! i really need some feed back. i am so distressed.

Good luck!! What methods did you use to study? I completed my preceptorship a few weeks ago, and the nurses were telling me how they had all been cut off at 85 questions, and they all passed the first time. There was only one nurse who didn't pass the first time, and he had answered all 205 questions. I am starting to get anxious! I don't have my test date yet, and I'm already anxious! I wish I had more advice, but just think positive!!!!! Happy Thoughts :)

GREAT NEWS! I PASSSED! After talking to a few people (some are my professors that write for nclex), I learned that if you get a lot questions with bolded words in them like first or priority, that means that you are getting the higher ended questions. I also got a lot of questions that stated 'which order would you question' and then I got a senario with labs, abgs, vs, diagnosis, etc and I had to chose with order wasn't right.

As for studying, I did a lot. A minimum of 125/day and I made sure to read the rationale for both my correct and incorrect because even if I got the questions right, sometimes my rationale wasn't the correct one. I also noticed that when I took questions from Saunders, I got 80's or higher on the quizzes, but with Kaplan and Davis Nclex-RN I was getting 60's. I also used Mosby's Nclex-RN flash cards, which were helpful because they didn't take up much space and I carted them around in my car etc.

Honestly, I didn't think that it was as bad as everyone says it is. Don't get me wrong, it is nerve-wreaking, but just sit down, take a deep breath and relax. You know more than you think you do! Have faith and confidence. Afterwards, you will probably feel like I did and have mixed feelings of passing/failing. But, that is TOTALLY normal! Try to relax and keep your mind off of the test. What is done is done and you can't do anything about if afterwards, so go do something for you! I got a manicure/pedicure to help me relax and get things off of my mind. I think you really need that. Especially because you spent x number of years in school and preparing for this test. Do something for you to congratulate yourself!

These are some of my tips and I hope they were helpful! Any other questions/etc, just let me know! Best of luck to ALL of you and stay positive!:w00t:
