I am looking to take a group of student nurses to the UK to visit a nursing program and hospital.
I would like to hear from some nurses with recommendations.
Money is definitly a consideration as I am trying to get the experience for as little as possible. What I have in mind is staying either in the school dorms(if possible) or maybe staying at the home of the students.
It will probably be a group of 7 students.
Do you have any school suggestions, travel suggestions, etc?
Thanks,
Bryan

hi,
I would suggest getting a University of Nursing involved first and then sort out accomodation afterwards. I know that once you have found the city then you can budget and there is always host families willing to have students in the UK. Try Southampton University or even Manchester University Nursing department. They are the only ones I know but you can contact them on line.
I am sure others will be on later with better suggestions.
BA do group travel as do Continental

To cut travel costs, you'd probably be better off looking for a University near where you are going to get off the plane i.e. Thames Valley for Heathrow (http://www.tvu.ac.uk/index.jsp), Croydon area for Gatwick, Manchester for (strangely enough) Manchester area etc etc.
Here's the NHS careers site links for HEIs, some of which don't provide pre-reg nursing programmes http://www.nhscareers.nhs.uk/links.html
This is better http://www.nmas.ac.uk/
Anything outside major airports is going to cost you travel wise either by coach or rail.
I could make contact for you here in south Wales, although we are at least 2 to 3 hours from Heathrow or Gatwick.
Cheers

You could also try Middlesex University or Anglia Ruskin University they are not too far from Heathrow/Gatwick & have good, well established nursing programs.
Thanks for the info, I will add it to my list. I appreciate it.
