I want to know how much LVN's in the San Fernando Valley get paid in CA

I want to know about how much an lvn nurse will be getting paid after they graduate their program and I also want to know where can i study to become an lvn then do a RN program. I don't want to attend kaplan college or everest. Those schools are for-profit schools and ridiculously expensive, i went to go check them out and i felt pressured into signing a contract and also felt that they just wanted my money. Also, is becoming an LVN worth it? i herd that they do all the crappy work RN's don't want to do and get paid almost the same amount as MA's do. But i herd that there isn't jobs for MA's. some advice? I don't know what to do.

Since this whole section consists of people who are attending school for LPN/LVN, I'm pretty sure all of us feel its "worth it" to become LPN's/LVN's.

Crappy work RN's don't want to do LMBO, sorry but that was funny. Number 1.. I have never worked with any LPN's that don't have their own pt assignment. So yeah, they are too busy doing their own work to do mine too. A big part of nursing both LPN's and RN's can be "crappy work" (your word, not mine) cleaning, poo, pee, vomit or some other form of bodily fluids. I don't see any of it crappy, it is part of the job.. If you want to become a RN, just do that from the start if you can; if you can't nothing wrong with LPN to RN. If this is what you want to do, feel you need to do...go for it, who knows what the future holds. As for pay, I can't answer that.. Im not in Cali

There are a LOT of unemployed new-grad LVNs in the SFV - so very many for-profit schools churning them out and too few jobs. Instead of focusing on how much they get paid, focus on how many job postings there are for LVNs in the SFV and compare them to the (just at my for-profit school in Canoga Park) 20+ new grads this week and the 20+ new grads 4 months ago and the 20+ new grads 4 months from now. Multiply that by all the for-profit schools in the SFV alone. How much LVNs earn in the SFV is irrelevant - I would estimate there are 100+ applicants for every opening.

(You may ask......why am I bothering? I have no intention of getting a job! Straight into LVN-RN bridge program!)

The pay is so low for the crappy work that it is not a reason to become a nurse... there are so many new grads in it for the pay that there are not enough jobs for all of those who live for the crappy work...

I attended an LVN program in the SFV (Casa Loma College, located in Van Nuys). I relocated out of state soon after graduating because the pay rates in southern CA were too low when taking the high cost of living into consideration.

In addition, the job market was flooded with too many nurses as the result of more than 100 LVN programs in Southern CA who have graduating classes every few months. The local employment market cannot absorb all of those new nurses, so many employers have resorted to demanding a minimum of 1 to 3 years of experience from all potential applicants.
