The kaplan book is awesome. That book, is a must if you want to pass your test. It tells you everything about how to answer the questions, and how to break it down for you to get the right answer. Everyone must have a copy of this book. One girl told me about this book, this girl took her test 4 times, and she told me that for the 4th time she did the remediation course, and also used this book. and it was the best book I bought (outside of the kaplan course).
The book by alice stein is good for the questions part at the end of the bok. This book was recomended to me by the kaplan instructor. He said that the nclex type level questions are in this book. i borrowed it from a friend of mine. Also, he said that saunders was good... (I own the book), but since i did the book while I was in nursing school, I didn't want to do it.
The little flashcards book is awesome. I took that book everywhere with me. When I would go over my family's houses I would read it while the baby slept. I also had it in my bathroom and any time I had a chance to read it in the bathroom I would.
If you were to get just one book, I definitely say to get the kaplan book pictured above. That book is just so so amazing. If you follow exactly, you will pass that NCLEX.
has anyone used my notes for the test? has it helped a little bit?
If it has, I am very happy for you. I hope that they help you as much as they helped me very much.

i have both books from kaplan (2005 edition), alice stein
in addition i also have saunders, mosbys, lippincott, springhouse, pda, flash cards from springhouse, flash cards made by myself
my strategy: i am doing like 25 questions each from each system from each book. the saunders and springhouse are the easiet but best way to review content. for critical thinking i give credits to all the rest of the book except lippincott which falls in between content and critical thinking according to my analysis...
i wanted to try suzzanes plan but it is very tedious for me...i am not patient sitting for 100 question a day and i am very slow too. i tried for couple of days but as i couldn't finish 100 question...my focus was to finish 100 question and began panicking. I think it is great for those who need a structured plan.

I start RN school on Jan. 14 , starting to worry, haven't got my books yet. My student loan wasn't ready before Christmas break,,, I really want to see them Trying to see what other books I might have to purchase to help.
Thanks

Since you are just starting RN school, the best book to have in your studies is the SAUNDERS COMPREHENSIVE REVIEW BOOK.
It is great, it has everything from cultural awareness to elimination, nutrition >-- first semester of nursing school topics.
REad your lecture book first, then go back and read the saunders book, do their practice questions and you will pass.
that is what I did the first semester.
as far as the nclex, don't worry about that yet, pass nursing school... not everyone makes it!, so worry about passing your school classes then worry about the test!

I used the interactive flashcards, the nclex RN Saunders 3rd ed, exam cram and nclex rn for dummies. I also read half of kaplan 2007-2008 and saunder's alternate format question. Altho I admit I wasnt able to read all of it, most of these books were read randomly but they all helped me with vital information that i needed to pass nclex. 1 question with is 95% similarity to actual nclex is in Saunders. I made a wrong answer on that actually but didnt stop me from passing. Thank God!
[banana]I would like to thank both of the last two post... I am just worried, I have trouble understanding what I READ,,, so lec. if what I really need. But I hear a lot of the time the Lecs. aren't that great? What do you two think?? I am copying and pasting all the info I get so I can read over it again...[/banana]

My favorite books: Lippincott Nclex (over 5000 questions broken down by diseases, Nclex 3500 and Saunders Review. All three helped me out big time last semester.

Hey leilah, you are like me. I also don't able to sleep early @ night. (eventhough some times I wakes up early but can't go to sleep early) so I guess if i have to take it next time, I'll try to scedule it after 12 noon or so . but you know what , this time I took it @ 11.30 am ( that was the only time available besides 9 am & I had to drive for an hour to get there because, that's the only center had that time available! I'm glad to hear that someone in this world who was also working hard to pass nclex-RN like me & with a same situation can pass too!
you will do well. try to calm down and pray before you touch the keyboard. I prayed to guide my hands and my brain to choose the correct answers. I am not a robot or a computer to memorize everything. I am a human being capable of commiting mistakes but this time, I have tried to lessen my mistakes by educational guess, and looking into details thoroughly. All I have is faith in God and trust on myself. Best of luck to yah:) You and all others here who will take the test will pass and will have great 2008!
I used the interactive flashcards when I was in nursing school. They are very easy questions for content.....
saunders was good only for nursing school though (for me)
Kaplan 07-08 is awesome
I used exam cram during nursing school & saunders alternate quetions for nursing school too.
what really helped me was the kaplan program, but I guess it doesn't work for everyone, i just found out one of my classmates I met from kaplan course did not pass the test...... and I dont get why, she did better than me on the diagnostic and readiness test, and also she had studied exam cram before starting the kaplan course........
this test is so hard, that sometimes I belive that they pick people at ramdom to fail them...... I don't get it.
