Hey leilah, you are like me. I also don't able to sleep early @ night. (eventhough some times I wakes up early but can't go to sleep early) so I guess if i have to take it next time, I'll try to scedule it after 12 noon or so . but you know what , this time I took it @ 11.30 am ( that was the only time available besides 9 am & I had to drive for an hour to get there because, that's the only center had that time available! I'm glad to hear that someone in this world who was also working hard to pass nclex-RN like me & with a same situation can pass too!
Glad to know also

you can buy them really cheap on the net.
on half.com or amazon.com
there was a book there that I wanted so bad when I was in nursing school a pediatric skills book... I couldn't find at a regular store, so I never ended up getting it, and I just bought it used on half.com for $10 including shipping!!
I bought it because I am going to work in pediatrics, so I dont want to be not ok with peds skills. I did peds last year in sept 2006!!
oh oh before i forget!! this isnt a book butit is highly recommended!!! TAKE THETEST WHEN YOU ARE MOST AWAKE! I TOOK IT THE 1ST TIME 8AM-FAILED (guess brain is still sleepin), 2nd time 10am--failed (brain is half awake but still confused), 3rd time-2PM-i passed!!(im very much awake. i felt it, my brain is processing more than before, my eyes were wide open, i feel better! im a night person and normally wakes up every 12noon and sleeps roughly about 4am!)
I agree with you,
definitely take the test when you are most awake.
by 3pm, my brain is totally tired, and I feel like sleeping.
I decided to get my test over with at 9am, I got to the center at 8:30am, and started my test at around 8:50 and I got home by 10:30am... the computer didn't even ask me for a break, so I know I was not there for two hours, I think I took an hour and a half......... that test is so so hard that it is hard to remember details like that.... like how the questions and answers were worded or even how long I had... all I remember was that 75Q and the computer freezing on me, and turning blue then doing a questionaire... that i gave the center horrible review because I thought I was reviewing my experience with the test....

For nursing school the best books are
Saunders comprehensive review
Lippincotts for the nclex-rn
Mosby's for the nclex-rn
also, if you want to go over board like how I did it because I was highly afraid of failing nursing school.
for medsurg get reviews and rationales for medsurg
for ob get the maternal/newborn nursing reviews and rationales
for peds. lippincotts review series for pediatric nursing
I am selling those books on half.com because I don't nee them anymore. But were my saviors during RN school.
I read my lecture books, then I would read these supplemental study books, and to me the reviews and rationales series books are amazing. they really broke down the topic into what I really needed to know on a particular topic.
