I took the NCLEX today at 8am

Hey AllNurses!

I've been on this site for awhile, stalking every post ever about the NCLEX. Lol. I took the test today, Saturday 6/21/2014 at 8am. I finished at 9:40am at 85 questions.

As soon as I got in my car, I kept refreshing PearsonVue website over and over for about 7 minutes for it to FINALLY say "Delivery Successful" and I tried the trick.

I got the good pop up. I understand how people are nervous and skeptical about the trick. I'm now in their shoes, wondering, hoping, and praying it really does ring true in meaning I passed NCLEX.

It takes a whoooooole lot of energy to think negatively, so I'm going to think positively and think I passed and stalk my BON site for RN by my name come Monday. Lol. :)

If anyone is wondering what I used to study, here goes:

---Kaplan QBank (I did about 300 questions) Poor effort, I know. But I tried my best.

---Q trainers (QT#1 58% and QT #6 67%) Lousy, I should have done more, but hey.

---Hurst Review book that I borrowed from a friend. (I did not attend the review) I read about 78% of the Hurst review book.

---NCLEX Mastery App for iphone. I did ALL the quizzes and about 100 of the comprehensive questions.

My studying has been lack luster but I did do some form of questions every day. Every single day. Also, I'm a prayer and a firm believer in the Lord above. I believe he had me covered and deemed successful before I even started my nursing school journey. I just took a breath, closed my eyes, and prayed after and during each question.

If I were to give any advice on which avenue to study, I would whole heartedly recommend Kaplan. The whole thing. Do all the Kaplan Qbank if you can, Do all the QTrainers if you can, Sample Tests, all of it. In my opinion, the NCLEX looked exactly like a Kaplan test. Do Kaplan, read all rationales and do questions every single day. The NCLEX Mastery App is awesome too. I would do about 30 questions before bed each night.

Saunders or any book that has comprehensive content would be good. I can't say beat into your brain every single disease ever, bc the NCLEX is a bit random, but definitely learn from the rationales from the plenty of questions you should be answering! :)

Hope this info helps someone. I could NOT sleep last night. At. All. I just laid there. Smh. I prayed. I did jumping jacks. I watched tv. I scrolled Facebook and Instagram. I tossed and I turned. I kept running facts through my head of what to remember and lab values and what librium and other psych meds' side effects were. I was just so wired. So I felt a little weird this morning--most likely due to no sleep. I showered, prayed, ate scrambled eggs with cheese, toast, and a full glass of water. I got to the testing center at 7, studied lab values and psych meds (My trouble area) til 730, and went inside. The rest was/is history. Lol.

Please send up a prayer for me that the PearsonTrick goes in my favor like it does for everyone else!! Lol.

Good luck to everyone and congrats to those who has already jumped & cleared this NCLEX hurdle!

Really glad to hear that you are not going to let the PVT ruin or change how your day will end. People don't understand that it is a trick, and no one can use it as an indication of passing. It is fairly reliable but when you apply for positions in healthcare there isn't a check box for positive PVT.

Sounds like you prepared really well and didn't let the stress get to you. That is at times half the battle. I hope everything works out for you and good luck!

Thanks so much, Rob!

Stacey1 you are an inspiration to those of us preparing to take the test soon. You did pass! You are a RN now! So pat yourself on the back, go out and treat yourself to something special, like a facial or massage or a new piece of clothing, etc. You Rock! Now you get to pay it forward by becoming the greatest nurse you can possibly be. God Bless You!

I'm in the same boat. Took mine on 6/21/14 at 2:00. I got 75 question's and keep getting good pop up hope that means we passed(then I can quit obsessing)

Hi,Jaimepeterson46, Congrats!! I am repeated test taker can you tell me what study material you use for nclex exam..

I used the Kaplan book with a practice test. It had tons of questions with rational through out the book. I used a bunch of free nclex apps for my phone. I did questions on my phone in bed before I fell asleep. And made notes from the Kaplan book on things I missed and studied those everyday for 4 weeks.

Congratulations ?

Thanks! And Congrats!

Congrats Stacey!! HOw many hours / weeks did you study for? did you do anything besides kaplan questions? ive been doing kaplan 150 questions a day, I also have the hurst book, I guess you'll never really feel prepared... its scary!I just dont know if I'm doing it right.

Hey Dibs!

You're exactly right! I never really felt prepared and I actually pushed my test back 3 days. I used exactly what you have. Kaplan and the hurst book and honestly, I only studied hardcore for about a week and half. I know they suggest 3 weeks or more Butu graduated May 21st and I was just OVER staring at material forever, felt like. Lol.

You will do great. Stop, breathe and the NCLEX feels like just another set of Qbank questions. Go slow. Read the stem. If it asks for an assessment, pick an assessment, knock out the interventions, etc. I did not feel like the test was terrible and I think that's a good thing since I was such a lack luster studier.

I wrote down down all the labs and strategy tips before even reading question one to resolve some anxiety.

Good luck and I'm sending a prayer up!! You will pass!!

Hey! great advice, I too am not studying that much as well. I am just shot. I am mainly doing questions daily, reading rationales. I did decent in school (3.5GPA) and I do feel prepared but I think theres just too much stuff to retain! Did you think Hurst helped at all?? AND in terms of meds - how much did you study for those and did you find that there were a ton on the test? THanks for your help, you made me feel better.. and thank you for the prayer :) I need it considering I have a job pending that I pass.
