Well, I had my first interview today. I have not been to a job interview in over 14 years. It seemed they liked some of the things I had to say. I got some positive feedback, but, I feel like an idiot as to my answers to some of the questions or the fact that I had difficulty coming up with answers to others and fumbled through them. When I was able to speak more freely I was able to convey myself a little better. This sucks! Of course the first interview I got is the job I really want. And now, I have all the answers. AAAhhh! Just looking for a place to vent.

You likely did better than you think. They may have just thought that you were nervous. I am sure you have thought of this, but you could send a note thanking them for the interview and just say that you really would like to work there. Good luck.

I think interviews are like NCLEX in a way . . . the more you think you bombed it, the better you actually did on it. For every interview I thought I bombed out on, I have been offered the position.
So think POSITIVE! Im pretty sure everyone gets just as nervous and fumbles at some point in an interview. So keep the mindset that everyone else fumbled worse than you, lol.
Bet you'll get a call back from them.

Thank you for the positive feedback...Like GB said, it's kind of like the NCLEX. And now, all I can do is wait, wait, wait. It's amazing how much one can stress about something that can't be changed. What's done is done and now I just have to hope for the best. Wish me luck!!!

I had my interview yesterday with my first choice as well and feel EXACTLY the same way! I was caught off guard with a few questions and used 5 sentences to answer a question that could have taken 5 words.
Everyone's telling me that I probably did better than I expected and that there's nothing I can do about it now. Nevertheless, I can't escape the dread that's plaguing me!
I do, however believe in the power of positive thinking so I will continue to try to EXPECT the best.
I was told that I will be notified by the end of this week so we'll see!
Good luck to you!!!!!
Update! I called back the person who interviewed me today and it seems I may have gotten the job! I have not gotten the official offer, but, I also received an e-mail this evening saying I would be a good fit and to follow up on Monday. What is crazy is that I had a dream the other night that I got the job. It seemed so real and I was so excited. Then I woke up..I was sooo mad it was a dream. It's crazy what your mind can do to you. I was convinced I wasn't going to get it. I still don't believe it. So, I guess the moral of the story is...hang in there..for those who are still anxiously awaiting. AND, thank you for your kind votes of confidence.
Wow- that's great news! Congratulations!!

See you didn't fumble like you thought! I've read that the more interviews you go on the more it'll build up your confidence and you'll get so many job offers that the only thing you're fumbling over is which one to choose. :roll Congrats and Good Luck!
Congrats! If you happen to not get this one, you'll surely get the next one!

You guys probably all did great. Prep before any interview if you REALLY want it. List all the pos things and experiences you had in clinical tell them what a team player you are and that integrity is a high quality that you value. Let them know that when someone needs a hand that you are right there to lend your hand. They want to hear that. Know ahead a time about some great experience you had in a previous job or clinical setting. Boast yourself but do it in a friendly assertive and HUMBLE way if thats possible.
Good luck nurses rock. Have confidence in yourself. Know you will not know everything and it will take time to build that confidence. Just take a deep breath and go do that first uncomfortable proceedure and ask someone you like on the floor to come with (a good experienced nurse who will take time for you).
By the way you guys dont stop looking for jobs or get stuck in 1 job for 10 yrs. you will not get paid what your worth. Of course stay at your first job about a year get that good experience then move on to new challengs and higher pay with your new confidence. from me smiles04 my moto caring is sharing.
I can't believe it! I was hired!!!!!!
I thought for sure that I didn't get this job. After all, the nm said that I'd be notified at the end of the week. Two weeks later, I'm hired!!
Thanks for everyone's kind words.
