I could literally scream right now. I'm 6 weeks from being eligible for reinstatement and have tested positive for Benadryl. I'm freaking out. I was sick recently. I had my husband get me stuff, but I specifically told him get non drowsy meds. I haven't had a drug of any type in 2 years. Never had a positive drug screen in two years. I have fully complied with the board with everything. I'm in Louisiana. Can anybody give me any advice?

Me too and everyone looks at me like I'm crazy when I say it! Unfortunately I found that out after taking it before going to work. I was a zombie. Good thing they trusted my explanation because otherwise I'd probably have been made to work a program. Yikes!

well, you were smarter than I, it took me three times....

I think that since some addict use Benadryl for synergistic effects with other narcotics and because it can be used to alleviate symptoms of current use( itchiness, water eyes, sniffling, insomnia) that it has been looped in. Or someone claiming when confronted that they "aren't high, they just took their allergy rx" etc

Yes I about died when they told me NO BENADRYL and then said and No sanitizer with alcohol AND THEN said don't even SMELL IT! I was like you have to be kidding me right now.

I can't believe you'd get in trouble for Benadryl! That's ridiculous. I told my case manager from the get go that I take it at night for sleep, and he said that was fine. I've never gotten a positive test result from it, and I've been tested for Options 1 through 4.

I am wondering what has happened with this? What did they do to you for a positive for Benadryl?

How were you informed of your postive? Did you receive a letter in the mail? Or did your worker call you from the BON? How long did it take for them to contact you?
