I just can't believe it. This summer has flown by so fast, last night was my last night of having a life. Lol. I made sure that it was fun, needless to say we didn't get back till six this morning. Lol. From now on nursing school is going to consume my free time, but I am so ready for the challenge. Let's do this:D

absolutely not! does that make it ok!.....point being....perhaps they should test even after,or like you said...if they are prescribed it then so be it. but what if...just a what if....what if the person who was doing the testing used it as well? one would never know, you would just have to assume he/she was showing they were upholding their morals and obligations in the field, right?

no,i do not think it is right. but i do think there are quite a few hypocrites out there.

I bet that is what SHE said, too! lol

I'm sure! I think I was just in shock and didn't know what else to say lol.

I know some stoner nurses who managed to put the joint down long enough to pass drug tests during NS and the job hunt, so I guess I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around why someone who worked so hard to get in and has no attachment to marijuana would screw themselves that way.

Maybe under the influence of ETOH? Maybe just not aware of the length of time it can show up? Dunno.

But best of luck to you, OP. I hope you're able to bounce back from this and continue to pursue your dreams!

Well... That was an interesting turn of events. To say the least.

I am so shocked, I am lost for words because she fought so hard to get into clinicals. I am not here to judge her, but I don't get it, why would she put her nursing education on the line? What you do outside of school could come back and bite you in the @$%.

At my school before and during the nursing program you must keep a clean background check(you can only get by with a speeding ticket). Also a clean drug test, because after the initial drug test if they suspect you, you must take a drug test. What if she can't apply to that school again, she may have to apply to a new nursing program? Maybe she will come back and post another update.

Unfortunately, we will see a few people fall throughout this journey for a variety of reasons. It's just sad to see someone drop so quickly and for such a preventable reason. Let that be a lesson to everyone.

Not trying to be an insensitive b@#$% here, but maybe its for the best. Something just does not add up to me here. Anyone here knows that anyone who is seriously attending nursing school that your conduct and behavior both in and out of school can be questioned and you are held accountable for your actions. You knew what you were doing, and now you face the consequences. Nurses and students have a moral and ethical obligation to uphold standards. Whether you are trolling or if this was a serious post, I hope you get help. I do believe in second chances but if you continue down this road again, don't expect a third one. Good luck.

Get help?

I smoked one time, it was a mistake.

I'm not a drug addict.

But thanks for the input.

I admit that I made a mistake,

I was drinking, and I just did it to do it.

I regret it, but there's nothing to be done about it now.

Thanks for the posters who are sympathetic and not judgmental.

I don't think people are trying to be hurtful but all over this forum you see people with 3.8 GPAs waiting sometimes years to get accepted into a program. It's a little shocking to have someone just do something like that "just to do it."

I wish you the best in your future endeavors.

I agree. I don't think anyone thinks bad things about you or is trying to beat you over the head with anything. You just blew some minds, no pun intended. As impactful as this experience has been on you, I'm sure you can understand that. Anyway, like I said, I hope you get everything worked out and you don't let a poor decision get in the way of where you want to go in life!

I'm in a paramedic program now at the same school.

So I'm going to finish this than do a BSN program for nursing.
