I really, really, really can't stand female nurses.

God knows I love women.

My wife is wonderful.

The women I work with at the hospital. The docs, the PTs, OTs, STs, Lab Techs, Dietary, etc... etc... They're all great. They're funny, smart, attractive, and caring. I swear... all of them.

But the female nurses. Arrghhh. No humor, dumb as a doorknob, bland, vindictive, petty. Shall I go on?

You ever been written up before? By who? Doc, therapist, tech? Nope. Male Nurse? Yeah, right. There's only one species on this planet that lives to find your mistakes, tell everyone about it, and make you pay for it: Fem-nurses.

If males ruled nursing, there would be no RN-MD tension in the workplace. We'd get paid 1.5x more. We'd have far more technological advancements. And most importantly, we'd have scrubs that actually fit.

While I'm still dreaming... We'd stop catering to pregnant nurses that do 50% of a normal workload, and probably get some sort of charge nurse differential on top of it.

When I was a waiter way back when... we talked about how waiters have the highest paying job for the least amount of education. And it was obvious. Every night I'd see these women head-off to the bar and blow $40 minimum on drinks. They just had more tip money than smarts. Every day I realize that nursing, while a rung up in education (2 years in college), is again the highest paying job for the least amount of education. And my coworkers prove it everyday.

You have 125mg Dilt in a 125ml bag, how fast do you run your IV for 10mg/hour? What? Seriously? You can't even come close while guessing? Did you even pass 3rd grade math?

Quick, name the decade WWII ended. Yep, didn't think you'd know something they teach to 4th graders. Maybe math and history aren't your strong suits. Just explain why we call it an "Achilles" heel? Nevermind, don't even pretend to try. Strike 3.

Ahhhh... I'm working with morons.

I know. I'm being harsh. You know stuff. One thing they didn't teach you in elementary school is the joy of Le Sportsac Purses and Coach shoes. I'm not too worried about that one though. Again, lots of money, no brain.

I blame myself though... I should have gone into construction. =)

"It would be interesting to know what your female coworkers think of you"

To you and me both. =)

"(PS: I love how the idea of females coming to a male nursing forum... clicking on a thread addressed to men... responding in opposition... and receiving tons of "kudos" from all the other lurking females... who then feel empowered to respond in kind. Where's the kudos for the golytlely-prep dude that spilled his guts about a fellow nurse embarrassing him? If you poke him... does he not bleed?)

A lot of men posted things that got kudos.

I didn't realize that I had stumbled into the He-Man Woman Haters Cub. Sorry, Spanky. I'll leave you and Alfalfa to it.

But seriously. I agree idiocy is very frustrating, and like you, I have very little patience with it. However, I think it's a bit unfair to paint all female nurses with the same brush. Petty and vindictive? I've dealt with my fair share of men that fit that description. I certainly don't make the assumption that ALL men are that way. I've worked with a few male RNs that aren't the shiniest stars in the sky, but I don't generalize that to include ALL male RNs. If your experience has been as you describe, that's really a shame.

Believe it or not I really can't stand some of the male nurses, a few of the one's I work with are flirts who are MARRIED, and yet still hit on the nurses...AND I constantly hear them make perverted comments.

I agree that some female nurses are catty and look for trouble and nit pick at ANYTHING just to gossip. I see so much too faced crap going on it's enough to vomit.

Voyeuristic She-Nurse?? :chuckle That reminds me of "Divine" (R.I.P.) for some reason.

I think the OP has vented, gotten the answers he wanted (and some he didn't) so will close this for now with the words of wisdom that you might not always hear what you want to...take care.
