Nurses General Nursing

Published

I have seen TONS of people who have said "nursing is my second, third or fourth career." As I have become more and more curious I was wanting to start a thread to see what areas and walks of life all the nurses and student nurses had before embarking on this incredible medical journey.

I will go first.

I was a TRUCK DRIVER prior to being a nursing student..

NEXT.

I am excited to see what you all did in your PAST LIVES>>>>>

Completed pre-reqs and started Nursing School last Month...YAY!

I was and still am (while going to LPN school) a Health Claims Analyst (yup I am the one everyone hates at the insurance company) I do this from home so I am also a stay at home mom to my 5 yr old and 14 yr old daughters. I am at school when they are. I am home when they are too.

I am a Business Manager for a grocery chain. I manage corporate brands (aka the store brand) across grocery non-foods (detergent, cleaner etc), pet, candy, nuts, cookies and OTC drugs. I have a BS in business as well as an MBA and I'm starting my pre-reqs this sping (A&P) and HOPEFULLY will start an ASN night/weekend program in the fall while I continue to hold my job.

I have a friend who is terrified to change careers, she is a kindergarten teacher. She has ALWAYS wanted to be a nurse and started out in college majoring in it but got a case of the nerves and switched to teaching. She is only 28 now and is seriously regretting not sticking with the nursing. She loves kids she just has an ache to do this nursing thing. So, I showed her this thread a few days ago. She called me crying and laughing saying she went and enrolled in a nursing program yesterday. YAAAAAAY....So

THANK YOU to all of you who posted. You just got yourselves one more nursey for the workforce. Can I get a witness? LOL
