I was picked in the lottery!!!

Published

O M G, I am soooo happy right now! Out of 585 applications, my name came up in the first 100, which means I should get into Spring 2014 at CCSF (they pick 50 for fall; 50 for spring). Nothing's set in stone until I get the official letter, but I'm still going to celebrate!!!

I was able to get a response from the department and a reassuring answer from our teacher in the nursing success class that they will not leave us in the dust... Here is a little from the email

""....I am sorry you are faced with this worry. I am encouraged by the response and support by the State Chancellor. This decision is not final and I truly believe this college will not close. I have inquired with Administration about the very issues your are asking about and I am still awaiting a response.

It is important to note that CCSF remains an accredited institution for the entire next academic year. Any classes that you complete fall semester 2013 or spring semester 2014 will be fully accredited and are recognized and transferable to other academic institutions I was reminded that we were told from day one that even if we close students would be allowed to complete their program either here at CCSF or at another college and that this would be addressed in the closure plans. I am actively seeking to confirm that information...""

Which gives me hope and confirms that I will not give up on CCSF despite bad publicity. I plan to attend Spring 2014 no matter what! :))

Thanks for sharing Volleygrl! I suppose that does sound somewhat hopeful. I also emailed the nursing department, and they basically just said they don't know anything yet.

It's so frustrating because everyone is telling me I should just apply elsewhere and not count on CCSF. But I really don't have a choice, unless I want to await around another 1-2 years to see if I get in somewhere else--maybe even longer because it's not like magic to just get in somewhere! Despite this accreditation mess, CCSF truly is my only hope. I'm sure this is the same for many, many other students--and it's so frustrating that people can't seem to understand this.

So, I will also be attending Spring 2014. And I sure hope that everyone involved in getting CCSF it's accreditation back is giving it their all. I guess we will find out a year from now. :(

helloo just wanted to catch up with everyone and see who was accepted for Spring 2014?! I am so anxious to start and am looking forward to orientation in nov. what is everyone doing in the meantime and if would like to be in touch before then please msg me! thanks!

I got an acceptance letter today for Spring 2014!! I'm soooo happy but also very stressed about the accreditation issue :( Does anyone know any recent information on that?

Today?! Wow they are till sending out letters? Very cool, Congrats!!! So far they are still in the decision appeal process and also the SF city attorney is sueing the commission that is trying to shut CCSF down. The school can't close while a law suit is in process soooo therefore I'm pretty sure it will stay open at least for as long as we will be there. If not for a while longer. long live CCSF!

Yes! I was surprised too! I was sure I wasn't getting in. But thank you so much for the info, I really hope CCSF appeals successfully :nailbiting:

I applied June 1st for our BSN program for spring 2014. I don't find out until October if I got accepted....praying!!

For Sfstate? cause CCSF doesn't have a bsn program

Hey I am so anxious too. Feels like forever until Spring, but I'm trying my best to make use of my free time. I'm brushing up on my Chinese at CCSF. I have a CPMC volunteering orientation coming up. And I'm going on vacation probably for the last time for the next several years at least.

If anyone gets any info about Spring orientation keep us updated, please! I'm so worried I'm going to miss it or forget to do something.

goood for you! I was a volunteer in the post-partum unit for over a year and loved it. I am now working as a Unit Coordinator in the med-surg and floating in other units also. Great job to have, hopefully I can keep up with it while in school :) I am so looking foward to starting I need start brushing up on my math I learned during the summer! I believe we suppose to get orientation stuff in november? so far away though ahh. anyway best of luck volunteering!
