God kills..actually is a fallacy, but congats. What we you recommend as the best study method?
Hello Jobo.84
How are you? Sorry for not replying to you in a timely manner.
The best study method after so many tries and error is the following:
1. Practice 100 questions in one sitting a day and pay close attention to every reasoning behind the answers. By doing so, it will bring up your stamina and focus when taking the NCLEX. Delmar-PN and Saunders-PN are very good sources of questions and reasoning...
2. Read Delmar Nclex-PN from Chapter 5 to Chapter 11. This book will help you retain more nursing knowledge than you ever could imagine. It has more illustrations than any other books. Visual learning is more effective than just words on the book. Saunders does not offer any time of visual learning and I find heard to understand and retain the info.
3. Know all the infection control (contact, droplet, airbone). Know what to wear in each situation. Know which one to put first and last to take it off (mask, goggle, gown, gloves).
4. Know lab values. Pay close attention to sodium, potassium, calcium, magnesium, bun, creatinine, specific gravity, rbc, wbc, plateles, hgb, hematocrit, hco3, co2.
5. Know PT. PTT INR, coumadin, heparin.
6. Know diets for celiac disease, diverticulitis, ulcerativecolitis, cirrhosis, pancreatitis, cholycstitis, gout, anemia, cushing, chronn's, dumping syndrome, neutropic conditions
7. Know Respiratory Acidosis/alkalosis versus Metabolic Acidosis/Alkalosis and their values.
8. Know math conversion oz to ml, teaspoon to ml, tablespoon to ml, cup to oz. know how to calculate gtt/ml
9. Know Vitamins A, B, C, D, E and food content for every category.
10. Know Endocrine disorders (cushing, addison, hype/hypothyrodism, hyper/hyporcalcemia- trusseau and Chvostek sign.
11. Erikson's stage.
12. The 12 Cranial nerves.
13. Insulin onset, peak, duration.
14. Know infant and toddler immunizations.
Let me know if you need anything....
