I passed my EXAM .california board with pearsonvue trick

Nursing Students NCLEX

hey guys, just wanted to share that i'm so happy that in my 2nd attempt i finally made it..I'm a foreign grad batch 2010 so my assessment on myself was that my foundation was not that good, although i graduated from a college in the with an ISO level 3 (Davao Doctors College) meaning you got a good quality school. First exam was in april 20, 2011..did some of the self review, flipping pages to pages, while managing to work 2 jobs and review which was not really helping me and at that time, dealing with life challenges with my Girl and our unborn baby on the way....I'd say it was really hard for me, i come home from work tired and the next day which is supposed to be my off, i would have to work on my other job and at the same time dealing with problems financially because i want to make sure that my girl back home has enough money to spend during pregnancy and some money on the side just for emergency cases...anyways putting that all together didn't really help me during my review because i could not concentrate on my review, mind sometimes ventures...

So during the first attempt didn't make it..Computer shut down on me at question #89..most of the questions that i had was SATA, and Prioritization which as really irritating coz' i don't have any idea if i missed something or have picked the wrong answer..i live in hawaii but my papers was process in Cali. Board RN...so anyways, i took that first exam with high hopes that i'm gonna make it that i had given myself enough time for the review...but sad to say i didn't make it.....

I tried doing pearsonvue trick 48 hours after i took the exam but as soon as i click "next", it asked for another payment of $200....which means only one thing---"i didn't pass"... 2 weeks after, i received the mail from cali board with a letter saying that i didn't pass.....it was a mix emotion...upsetting, mad at myself for not doing my best, demoralize...felt it was so unfair because i've been praying and asking for it....So i guess God has a better plans for me, that i needed to open my eyes if i were to plan to pass and be an RN.....Cali has a 45 days waiting for me to reapply which is another payment of $150..yep! money matters to me because i also have bills to pay and at the same time supporting my girl back home with our baby....i waited 30 days after the exam to reapply although it says it the paper wait 45 days to reapply...Sent out my reapplication paper on the 30th day and got response mid June....June 20, 2011 i got my ATT and schedluled myself for sept. 23...

I was reflecting on what i was doing before during the review and retracing on what i could have done...i was putting a lot of thoughts about it, been praying to God what should i do......

I've been praying to God to watch over me and my family back home for the decision that i have to make..I talked to my girlfriend and explained to her that i need to let go of my other job so i can concentrate more with the review and "actually asking her to limit/hold her temper against me" because i know we always have a fight over finances and other things..Finally mid July, i sacrificed my other job as a CNA in a Hospital and left me with just 1 job but still in a Hospital setting (telemetry) CNA...

i had to buy me a book Under Lacharity which really helped me with my understanding especially prioritization...I had to answer 100 questions a day and at the same time reading the rationales at the end of the day...

One of my co-worker told me to take review class..One of them telling me to take the review class from Kaplan... and the other one discretely:p told me to consider taking a review class from Excell Nursing Review...

So i said hmm ok...let me do some research about it...So i did some research, got some feedback's from other blogs. the only problem is that i didn't see any negative reviews, which is on my part thinking that this is too good to be true that they have really good numbers of percentage in passers...but the only problem is that i live in Hawaii and the review is held in the mainland at 4 different states..That would me i have to fly out, stay in a hotel meaning more spending...Like what i said i only have 1 job left with financial issues....

August came, i decided to go for it...went online for priceline and got me a package for round trip fare and hotel for $900 good for sept. 6-18..The review was in Las Vegas sept. 8-17..10 days straight review 8-5.....So i left hawaii sept.6, had enough time to settle in my room...Day 1 sept.8 paid for the review fee; the reviewer didn't waste time, and went ahead and started the review...So to make my long story short for the review.. during and at the end of the day of the review "i can honestly say that i had better understanding on topics that i though i knew...Like what i said in the beginning of this paragraph " my foundation is not good. i'm way different from other people who can get things at one time"....if people can read books and process that information at one time, me on the other hand have to read 2-3 times before it sinks in (if get lucky):uhoh3:

I had to ask the med-surg reviewer to give me her thoughts about my schedule date if i should keep it (sept. 23) or be moving it....so she said move it...and give yourself 2-3 weeks to go over my notes and take the exam...on sept. 10 i had to move the exam date to Oct. 6 which gave me almost 3 weeks to review my notes instead of 1 week..

from Sept 19-23 i've been reviewing my med-surg notes for 6-8 hours a day..the last week of sept i had to work and make up the days that i was out...so even after work i gave myself 1-2 hours of review so my shifts starts at 3:15 to 11:45pm and got home around 12:30...gave myself 30 mins to rest before i review for 1-2 hours for my pedia, ob-gyn, and psych.......

Oct 1-4 i went back and just scanned on notes all over again just to make sure that i did have an understanding on my review notes...

Oct. 5 gave myself a day of rest..not opening any notes even if i think i have missed something or just needed to clarify things... before and after reviews, i always pray for guidance even on the day of my exam

Oct.6 was the Exam day...i was so excited to take NCLEX-RN exam that i was there 1 hour before they even open...anxious and excited i should say...since i was the first one at the door, i was the first one to get called and gave them my papers..but as soon as the guy from pearsonvue asked for my papers, he asked me for my ATT....

i had this sudden rush of blood in the back of my head and in my head saying "Crap! i totally forgot to print out a new ATT....so he was nice enough to let me go out and print a new one...it was my luck that day that there was a Khinkos near ala moana (pearson vue)...took me about 5 mins to print and go back to take the exam...

While taking the exam on my first question i had this slight smile that hey i know this..came 2nd i had this weird feeling that i know this..3rd to 5th..i was like laughing at myself with a big smile "Oh my" i know this questions... My computer shuts off at #87 for 2.15hours....when home and talked to my parents and slept...7am got awaken by a call from my sister in arizona asking me if what's the result..i told her that it takes 1 week to get the result and i don't want to do the pearsonvue trick because it might demoralize me or something.....but anyway out of my curiosity..just before lunch i did trythe pearsonvue trick and it gave me " The candidate has recently passed this exam. A new schedule cannot be made at this time".....but still i was not sure i did pass...Monday morning i called cali Boards but told me it takes 2 weeks for the processing but did not say anything if i passed or failed...being so anxious i've been checking their website every 2-3 hours for update....finally at 11:30pm hawaii time that's around 2:30AM tuesday Oct. 11 my name showed up in their website...YEP! I PASSED....

So my advise to all who were planning to take the exam...Never Never forget to call upon him and ask for guidance, just pray, lessen your worries and let him take care of all the things that may or might bother you.....

Thank you giving a time to read my post

Congratulations! Your inspiring! Now Im thinking of doing the Excell Review too..!

hi soulsistah. Is that a nice review center the excell?

Hello there guys. congrats to u torpenng.R.n. wow u really inspired me on your story. can you tell me which review center you attended? is it kaplan or excell nursing review? I'll be taking my exam on nov28th and im really having a hard time on self reviewing. So i think i have to go for a review class just like what you did. I just dont know what the exam would be really.

I took the Excell Nursing review in Las Vegas.. their website is excellnursingreview.com.......... But then again every person is different..if you think you think you needed more with your foundation then i would recommend them. But if you can ASSESS yourself that you have a good foundation then you can go to the reviewer that you mentioned...i personally have not tried kaplan in the US but just their strategy book but when i was in the philippines i paid for the 3 months review with ISEC-Kaplan but only stayed with them for 5 days because i had to go back here in hawaii... Hope.that helped

hi kuya torpengRN u had experienced lots of hardships u dserve dis success..im also living here in hawaii and i came from the phil and studied der also... kudos to us kua.. stay happy now and dont think to much..happy new year big bro.. all the best for you dis year

very inspirational..thank you so much for sharing this kababayan..wish me luck, gonna take it Jan 9.. hehe belated Happy New Year

To all who read my post, thank you so much for giving time to read'em...I posted it right out of flying thoughts, typed as fast as i could, so some of the words were jumble...I'm not too sure to where i am supposed to post my blog....

As a new grad RN, it's really hard to find a job, chances were very slim on getting hire. There's so many competitors, compared myself as a new grad, no experienced at all to another RN who had like years of experience competing for a position in a hospital or a long term care.. Believe it or not, I did tried to apply but still i did not have any luck.. Some says try to apply to places like rural areas, which i did, but still no luck...I finally tried to apply here i Honolulu after i received my license through endorsement, still i didn't have any luck....

I was so desperate to get me a job, i was taking classes in advance, i have taken all my EKG from Basic to 12 lead and even took a telemetry class, seminars just to get me updated..Even got me a license for Texas after i passed my jurisprudence....still i didn't have luck in Texas. I've been applying for new grad program or internship program,positions that required 2 years experience as an RN..every other day i would log in to indeed.com, and monster.com looking for a job posting, applying, i figured out that what harm will it cause if flood all the openings with my resume but a day or two, i always received an email of " thank you for applying for the Registered nurse position, Unfortunately, we are considering applicants with experice..blah..blah...blah......turned down....

I mean its really frustrating not finding any job..

I said to myself that, i can't wait that long.. i needed to do something..i have a family back home that i am supporting financially every month and as much as i want to be with them (petition), i need to find a way..to those who has a family and a baby like me, i would do anything ( in good ways)..So my second option kinda' kicked in....It was just random, i thought about it even before i took the NCLEX-RN..If i can't pass my NCLEX, i'm joining the service....praying to God, please give me a sign..if Nursing is not for me please do give me a sign, then i'm joining either the Navy or the Marines, because i don't have time to waste, because i can't afford my family(mag-ina) to suffer.. I mean money don't come easy,..it's like this, i would walk or take the bus to work to save gas so i could give it to my family...

Luckily, answered prayers...i did pass my NCLEX....now that i have 3 RN licenses, i still couldn't get me a job...working as a Hospital Aide for a year...i realized that i was just rushing too much of getting an RN job, not being thankful for the job that i have which is a Hospital Aide..

....I'm just sharing this as a story of my experience, not to boast, but simply to share to those who are going on the same road like me, of not getting a new grad RN position...I've learned to be thankful to what i have, being a Hospital Aide is also a fulfilling job,, my co-workers says that i was a diligent aide, patients getting discharge who i cared for thank me for being compassionate...Seriously, i don't even know all of these, all i know is that gave more than 100% every time i work....

Finally, After all the turn down replies through emails from all the position that i applied, I am very thankful that the hospital that i am currently working as an Hospital Aide finally considered my application. I was interviewed, and a week after that, HR called me to take the pharmacology exam, which i did really great, 100%...so it was good feedback coming from the senior recruiting officer...4 days after that, they called me for a follow up..thank offered me a call-in position for new grad RN postion...I know i'm not making any sense right now, but i just can't express correctly, its like my blood is rushing all over my body, my heart wants to jump out of my chest(not chest pain lol)...

Right now i'm on the process of transitioning from a Hospital aide to RN..in 2 weeks i will an RN in Med-Surg...

yipeeeeeeehhh...:lol2::lol2: .....mix emotions, i may not know what kind of daily experiences i will face,,; I am not excited for what an RN makes, but definitely excited to share what i learned in school and put them in good use..to help out those who are in need............

lesson learned: LEARN TO BE PATIENT, An EXTRA IF YOU'D HAVE TO,

@Torpeng R.N.. - hi, i am inspired on your post sir.. btw, i am Irish.. i am residing here in Lacey, Washington. and planning to apply for NCLEX-RN in Honolulu, Hawaii.. i really don't know where to start since i have no one in the family to ask on how this application works and so.. i just got here in US last June and still adjusting to the place and people and.. jobless... gladly, i received my SSN and green card last month. we will be transferring our residence in Hawaii this DEC. and i am confuse about WHEN to apply since i am still here in Washington and should i start calling the BON for the ELIGIBILITY and REQUIREMENT issues or first i should for apply CES or credential evaluation? please help me sir... i did some browsing thru internet but i take the chance on asking you since you are there in hawaii.. please help me. i really appreciate your future response. GOD BLESS you. thanks. and if there are some information i should know please... i would be very glad to know more sir. thank you so much. -irish

Starting point would be CES report from CGFNS if that is required by the state. Takes approx 4 months to be done and then apply to the state once you know the report is nearly ready. Because you trained outside the US I would suggest you do not register with Pearsonvue (who sends ATT once BON says OK) until you receive the OK from BON

Hi Irish,have you decided if you are going to move here in hawaii? if you are going to move here and work here?..If you are planning to move here and 100% sure that you will be moving anytime by December then you can go ahead and start your paper works with CGFNS. Go to CGFNS.com... on the page click on CREDENTIAN EVALAUATION SERVICES (CES). register under the CES section, you will be asked to create an account.. I'm not sure how much they charge now but i believe the CES process would cost you $200-$250, depending on the type of service you want. by the way they charge extra if you want things to get faster probably around $100 more on top of the standard fee.. but that's optional. You can either pay right away or skip the payment until you have all requirements sent back to them. you will be asked for your high school if you graduated in pinas, if Nursing is your 2nd course then you will also have to declare your first degree. if not that shouldn't be a problem. If you have family in pinas it will ge great help because they can help you with your papers..CGFNS or Board of Registered Nursing per state will only communicate to school and not through you when to acquiring most of your papers( but some paper will be asked from you like your passport, greencard..ects)...Keep in mind that if you have a PRC license for then you will still need to declare that in your CES. CGFNS will contact you through email if they want some information..

The reason why i asked you if you are 100% that you will be moving to Hawaii is because in CES application you will be asked "to which state are you applying for License".. CGFNS will only send the final evaluation to the state that you are applying for.. otherwise they will charge you $100, thats for them to send the evaluation report to the state BRN beside Hawaii.

Your family/friend(s) who will help you, must go to your school to do a follow up. On my case my school will not mail my papers to CGFNS unsless i pay them the postal fee....make sure to have the papers mailed as the priority express that way it would take 1 week to get to CGFNS.(only if you want things to be faster). They will also have to help you with your PRC requirements(i guess they have to pay them for the postal fee too).

Always check you CGFNS account.. log in to your account and check the status.. (i'm was anxious so i've been checking it every friday)..You can also call CGFNS for your status (only if you think that PRC, and your School have submitted their papers to them, so make sure to take down the tracking number whey they send the mail. If you're school will allow you send the papers to CGFNS, make sure have each paper dry sealed and the enveloped sealed too to become legit.

Once you checked your account in CGFNS, if it says waiting for final report or evaluation that means that they have received all your papers and you are just waiting for the final report.(check on then list if all of the required items was received otherwise they will email you that you are lacking of that specific requirement.)

If everything is OK then go to Licensing Area: Nursing — Department of Commerce & Consumer Affairs.. download the request for application.. click on the Nursing (by examination)..send fill it out, make sure to include your CGFNS ID on the application for foreign graduate, application is $15 only

if you are residing here in hawaii by then, it will only take 7-10 business days for them to process your paper. so you can call them too if just to check the status of your application. Then from there they should be able to tell you that your paper is on the process and awaiting for the CGFNS report.

CGFNS will email you a copy of that report and they will also send the report to Hawaii BRN. You can always call them in the morning (they're are not busy in the AM,) don't call by 11;30am because they will be taking lunch break starting at that time, so chances are your call sometimes will not be picked up.

if received your report then it says its equivalent to US standards then most likely Hawaii BRN will grant you to register to Pearsonvue.com.. it's important to do this sequence so it will save you time, time you can use for your self review.

to go over******

Step 1----- CGFNS--> CES-->register-->pay $200-$250(or pay later)

Step 2-----Apply for Hawaii ($15) click here --->Application Forms & Publications — Department of Commerce & Consumer Affairs

Step 3---- Wait for Hawaii approval letter to register to pearsonvue

Step 4---- Apply to Pearsonvue.com ... $200-$250 exam fee... you can take the exam to anywhere within the US where there is Pearsonvue Center..If you plan to take the exam in pinas in Makati they will charge you $150 on top of your exam fee.

***********

CES---->$200-250

Hawaii--> $15

Pearsonvue--> $200-250

US License processing will cost you around $415-515

oh.. i couldnt thank u enough for your help. grabe. step by step. thank you so much. i will do what you have told me and start it as soon as i can. yes 100% sure we will transfer our residence. i am planning on taking the exam here in washington if i will be able to accomplish the requirements early with the coordination of prc and school. this is my first course and i am so eager to work soon. if the letter from hawaii BRN arrved later than december, then ill take the exam in hawaii. grabe po. im so anxious. im reading just one book. just to focus my review one at a time. honestly i dont know where to start and weak ako sa drugs. hay..... is it that difficult po? thank u so much. you are such a great help. ;)

by the way the applicant has to wait 45 days before they can apply and retake the exam that means paying $15 for application $200-$250 for the exam from Pearsonvue.

what book are you using? it's not good to know everything ..hahhahaha..but honestly stay on 1 book that way all information don't get mixed up. especially sa lab values. some books like Saunders and kaplan don't use the same exact lab value ranges...but anywho, the exam will be also including delagation and prioritization.. the prioritization will be seen mostly in the exam based on experience and what people been saying in some blogs.pero don't quote me for it..Especially the setting in pinas we don't really have the LPN/LVN and Nurses aide, medyo you would have to change the way you look at situations, some states don't have the same job duties for each title but the exam will use the most standard. If you have time to go to a library, borders, or barnes & noble store look for the red book under LaCharity "Prioritization and Delegation"...it will help you understand questions especially on select all that apply.. make sure you read page per page so you have a better understanding. if you need more info, you can always send me message..good luck with your processing and for the exam.

suggestion if in the future you plan to work in the hospital(especially here). Some hospital will look if you have any background in medical field,(experience in the US)..right now the job hunting is like pinas less job openings but more graduates, so keep yourself updated as much as possible, if you have the chance to take CE classes take it, it would help you more with job interview, you can sell yourself more than the others.
