I passed my boards for third time

Published

Hello everyone here's my story I graduated from ADN program in May 2014 was working as a PCT flexi... After graduation I took my board twice and FAILED!! So I never gave up and keep trying but then this past January I terminate due to a car accident and I was injured... So I started applying for another PCT jobs and got an offer from one. They want to hire me working nights and I accepted but the dilemma now is I passed my boards as an RN yesterday... so now I don't if I can't work because I'm a nurse or stay there until I find an RN job...

Check your states BON , you might not be allowed to work as a tech now. Congrats!

Maryland has no info about it

Specializes in HH, Peds, Rehab, Clinical.

Totally read this as you took and PASSED your NCLEX 3 times. :woot:

Lol sorry it was a typo I passed on the third try

Specializes in Geriatrics, Dialysis.

Giggle...I'm sure it's a typo but I was wondering why on earth you keep taking the test if you already passed twice. Anyway, check with your BON first to see if this is covered. Especially look at scope of practice because you may be held to the standard of an RN even if you are not working as one. Then check with the employer, by their policy you may not be allowed to to work at a level lower than RN if you are licensed. Plus maybe you'll get lucky and they will have an RN position available.

An update apparently I can but I would have to stay within my scope meaning not to give shots or meds working as a tech.... I took the job because I have my ADN and knew it would be hard for me to find an RN job... I looking in BSN programs now... This kinda sucks but when a door opens take the opportunity

You need to tell them that you are a nurse now, so they can offer you a job. Meanwhile keep applying to other places, and do not settle for less. Even they let you go, that will give you more time to look for jobs.

I'm searching but no luck and now that I'm working here I dislike because I'm losing my nursing skills.. If I quit now I will have a big hole in my resume and will make me look bad. I'm also worried about benefits too. I'm so stressed.

My current job didn't offer me a job. They said I have to get my BSN first I don't want to work there as a tech knowing that I'm an RN.
