to open the door wide and leave it open when i go in to do assessments - i have been working in a prison and its so different - after 2 months plus they still have to buzz down and say "open that door wide - now" - so used to giving total privacy !! not so in prison - safety first. oops.

I also seem to forget my patients' names the moment I go to Pyxis to get something out. I also always forget to weight my patients on night shift. Sigh.

I always forget to get a touniquet when starting IVs. So annoying!

To bring everything I need into the room before I get started...especially true when it's an isolation room....

Why make 1 trip when you can do 3 - 4 ? :smackingf

I also sometimes forget the name of the pt i'm pulling meds out for in the pyxis which is why i'm glad that we can also sort the list by room # because that I usually remember.

We just moved to a brand new wing last month and I'm still learning where the supplies are even though the stock room has it all screwed up that nothing that is relavant to each other is next to each other. IV start supplies are like on 4 different shelves in 4 areas of the same room. ABG supplies are never in the supply room I'm walking into (we've got 3) and I can never remember where the angel wing vacutainers are.

Maybe I can help :)

Remember this, when facing the patient, starting with pt's left side: Smoke over Fire, Clouds over Grass, throw Dirt in the middle. Translates to Black over Red, White over Green, with Brown in the middle of the chest. You'll remember White on Right, too ;)

I recite this in my head every time I apply leads :)

Hey, that's COOL!!! Thanks a lot!! :)
