I think I also got the courage to ask because it's a "for profit" clinic.
Something interesting to note is that often times you can actually make as much if not more at a non-profit so don't be afraid to ask. They often have funds, grant money and at least in my experience the non-profit where I work pays me very well.

Good to know, Jules A! Now I feel better negotiating during my next interview. I figured they may laugh at me for a few seconds but I won't lose anything :) they may even say yes! It's a part time position at a community clinic.
Thank you!
How exciting! Good for you Cocoa. I look forward to being in that spot. (Which won't be long!) Jules A is very wise, eh!
Awww shucks, I'm definitely not the brightest bulb in the box but I do ok. I have been blessed to have wonderful mentors and truly believe it is so important that we support each other and share information.

I just want to say THANK YOU to all of the members here who gave advice (and courage) about negotiating our NP hourly pay.
Even though I am a new grad NP, the manager still took the hourly rate that I asked for. I basically said that I am aiming for this $ per hour, therefore, I would like to get paid at this rate." I think I also got the courage to ask because it's a "for profit" clinic.
Thank you to Jules A and other posters, for the confidence they gave last night (about being confident about myself as an NP and asking for the pay we deserve). I read that thread by accident and i'm thankful I did.
Thank you to all of the members here who are ready to give advice, especially when nobody else could give NP-related advice to me in real life.
Thank you! ;-)
