I Need Some Advise.....Please

I am in my second semester of pre-reqs and I feel like College Bio is pushing me away from fulfilling my dreams. I did very well last semester and I am not too concerned about my other three classes, but this BIO class is scaring me!!!

Unfortunately, I dropped out very early on in school and I never learned this periodic table, atoms and all this stuff. Is there any advise? I already spoke to my prof. and expressed if there was some tutoring I can attend, but he doesn't know.

I just feel so lost in this class.

Thanks. I am going to hang in there and I am going to try my best in there. As long as I get a "c" just to go on that is what I am concerned about.

Oh Yvonne,

I am so sorry. I absolutely stink at Chem and trust me, if I had advice on how to get through Chem. I would have used it myself.

Like my dad always told me, "just pray to the "C" god."

I truly believe there are some things that I just "don't get" and anything related to Chem is one of them.

My transfer of credits from college is currently under review by the Nursing Department and I am praying that they don't make me take Basic Chem again.

I don't know what to tell you except try your best to muddle through it.

I can appreciate your frustration with chem; I had it in HS,and was terrible. What was even more frustrating was that in class, I'd know the stuff, but when it came time for a test, I would just flame out.

I spent time before and after school with the chem teacher who had the patience of Job, but it never failed. Come test time, I'd freeze and it was like I was reading Greek.

I should have gotten a "D", but he gave me a "C". When I asked him about that, he said he didn't have the heart to give me a "D" because I tried so hard, and he knew that somewhere I really did know the info. (Bless him)

I did OK in nursing school; not sure why. Just study, see if you can meet with him when he has office hours, and check out who does well in your class...maybe someone would be willing to tutor you.

Hang in there . . . you'll be fine. There is a book out there called Chemistry for the Microbiology Student. Basically, it's a book of condensed information and them some quiz questions with the answers right in the margins.

It was a help to me with all the atoms and bonding etc. .
