Nurses Uniform/Gear
Published Nov 21, 2005
Hey all! I just found out that I am not allowed to wear clogs in my program. Apparently its all white sneakers/nursing shoes. Any of you have recommendations for good shoes that give good support and no tired feet? Thanks

Is it that the shoes may not be open-heeled, or that the may not look like clogs (big, rounded and ducky looking). If it is the open heel thing, Birkenstock Super Birkis are intentially made with a deep heel cup so as not to leave the heel exposed. Otherwise, Birks makes other professional white enclosed shoes, which is all I wear at home or at work. FYI...Go to the Birk website and see what's available, then do an Ebay search for the one you like...there are tons of sellers with new-in-box Birks for much less than retail.

What's the benefit of the holes? Are the ones with holes better than the ones without?

I used to use Birkinstocks. They are so comfortable, but still my feet would hurt on accassion. My Podiatrist told me to wear Sketchers. I bought a pair, started wearing them, and now 2 years later, I will only wear Sketchers to work. My feet do not hurt, my legs do not hurt, and they are very comfortable.

What was the name of the shoe that had a spring in the heel? I'm trying to remember the name of them. That's the shoe that looks like it would be the most comfortable, but they are pretty expensive at $200. I'd be sure that I'm in a well-paying job that I liked before buying. I'd do it if it would save my back and from reviews I've seen on the shoe, it does just that.
Anyone know the name of the shoes? It's driving me crazy now. Not that it takes much these days. :chuckle
Z coils i think is what theyre called. im pretty sure about that
Check out this site: http://www.dansko.com/Home.aspx
They have different styles, mine are closed in (heels and toes)
so they should be allowed.:)

The extra inch or two is really appreciated by those of us who are vertically challenged.

Yup, they're called Z-Coil. One of my coworkers had a pair and then talked me into buying a pair. Trust me, that is THE BEST $200 you will ever spend. They're easily the most comfortable pair of shoes I've ever worn, and they're a good conversation starter to boot. :-)
