Ok, so this is not entirely completely related to nursing school, but it sort of is...basically I just need to vent...
I just got my rejection letter from the one college I applied to, and it was a nice letter and I wasn't surprised (don't have all the pre-nursing classes done yet), so I've been trying to plug away and get the rest of my prereqs done so I can apply again next year...
I signed up to take Micro this summer (2pm to 7pm two days a week for 8 weeks), but my work just told me they can't let me take that time off after all. I would only be leaving early for 2 dang days a week for 8 dang weeks, but no...:angryfire
So I'm going to take A&P II instead (it's offered later in the day), but the Micro class that's offered in the fall is at an even worse time than the one offered in the summer. So I probably won't be able to take it then either. And I need to have it done so I can submit all my applications this coming spring for programs starting Fall 09. So basically I may be up the creek without a paddle if you will.
Aannnnd to top it all off, my hubby lost his job last week, so we're panicking about health insurance and rent and the like...I just want to sit down and cry.
I'm sorry for the rant, I'm just so upset. I need a hug.

Even if you have to spend $20 on an application fee to that school. It'll be worth it to not have to drive to class and deal with the horrible hours that class is being offered at!

I am sorry for your stresses. Please see if you can find a class online. I was shocked to find Micro and A+P classes online- didn't seem like these would work well online, but I guess they make them work somehow.
Make sure you check with your school and verify that they will accept them, though.
If you need help finding something, maybe we can help. It is really frustrating to hit a brick wall. Maybe we can help you get around it!

OH, you do need a hug! {{hug}} I am sorry it seems things are not going your way. Hang in there, if you keep looking for a way, it will happen for you. Maybe you can take it online or at a different school, or take another class you need.
Take care

I had similar experience as you when I started nursing school. Many of the classes started so early in the AM and I had a son that needed his mom home in the morning to get him off to school. I did take many prereq's online. All of them that is except for the sciences that my college didnt offer online. Do you have your CNA? If so, there are many LTC facilities that would work around your schedule so you can continue on with school. I know it seems horribly rough right now and that everything is falling apart, but try to stay on focus and put yourself first if you can. If nursing is your passion, dont let close minded people stop you from achieving your dreams. Sit down, get out a piece of paper and write all of the things you could do that would make it work. Like finding a different job, contacting your school, they should have some kind of program to help with stuff like this. There are many things out there...just keep your head up, and your heart open...good things will come.

what you have to do is:
1-get your husband on the internet on careerbuilder.com and with the most 1 week he can get a job (if you have no kids ask him to get a part timer also so you guys can cash a little)
2- they offer micro on other schools, check it out
3-if there aren't anyother schools in your area offering micro, you go online and getter done! (you can probably do micro and apII on the summer all together with a fulltime job)
*i leave my house at 6 am and come back at 1230am from monday trough friday... manage to keep a full time job and full time school!!!
it is hard, have been on your situation, and found out that sit down, does nothing! but a shower a beer, and a game plan does it all!!
set your goals to accomplish on everyday! and do as much as you can, research and be strong!
we're here for ya!

Off topic and I'm sorry but I wanted to say....
I've read your posts here and there and for being a young man, you always have the most positive attitide and are a very inspirational person. Please don't ever change! Thank you!!!!!!!
Thank you everybody for your support and ideas! I know I will find a way to make it work. I know my school doesn't have Micro online, but I was also accepted to another school (general admission - not the nursing program unfortunately), and maybe they have it online or at a better time. I can also try to take it at my school during Spring 09, I'm just afraid that I won't get accepted for any Fall 09 programs since my application will be submitted before I finish the course. I guess I can't worry about that right now, I just have to keep going. I WILL BE A NURSE SOMEDAY and I can handle the setbacks because I won't give up. Thank you again ya'll, your support means the world!:heartbeat
do not give ut there are tons of online school, long distance schools, even if you have to pay outta state! get it done and overwith!
if you want i can even help you find a school that will offer online micro on summer at night!
"when there is a will there is a way"
"don't postpone what can be done today"
you will be a nurse sooner than you think! (i should probably onde day become a shrink! (just to rhime, lol))
Ya'lls ideas are working! I checked with the school I got accepted to for gen. admission (not the one I'm currently attending) and they have 2 Microbio classes offered in the evening this coming fall semester! All I have to do is get vaccinated, get them the immunization record, and pay tuition, and I should be able to register for the class (assuming it doesn't fill up before then)! I'm aiming to have this stuff done by Friday! I'll still be taking Chem I at the school I'm attending now, and the schedule might be a little crazy, but where there's a will there's a way!
I can take A&P II this summer at my school so I'm not missing out on any classes if I can work things out this way. Oh, and my stepfather said he can probably get my husband a job with his company in the next few weeks. Hooray!!! I hope everything works out with plan b! Thanks again for listening, I appreciate you guys so much!!!:bowingpur
