I Need Help! LPN NCLEX

Published

I have been having a hard time passing the LPN NCLEX and am looking for advice. I have studied several books, and tried a tutor. I feel like a failure in life. I have been trying to pass this test since 08/2013.

I feel like I will never pass this test. My last report they sent me in the mail was near all passing in all subjects. Although I did do the PVT and it let me sign up again. So..once again I'm a failure! I don't know what to do anymore I'm just a failure.

I currently work as a MA and am great at what I do! Just because I can't pass a test that doesn't make me a bad nurse. I know my information. I get nervous, have anxiety and get upset and don't pass. Thanks for bringing me down but your words aren't kind at all. I DO well in my job of field.

You really should work on toughening up your skin. That is a necessary attribute of becoming a nurse. My words were not unkind. They were realistic, down to earth and very true.

And here's another issue: If you " get nervous, have anxiety and get upset" with taking a test on a computer, how will you react in the real world? Nursing is nothing if not moving from test to test to test with real patients. In real life. In real time, without the ability to "do over" 9+ times.

I have no reason to believe that you are not great at what you do as an MA. Perhaps that is a career that suits you since you are doing very well at it. It's a rewarding career and very useful to the medical profession.

Actually I have been in real life situations and have done well. I am tough and I know and know what to do in life to get through. I have always wanted to become a nurse therefore, I will succeeded in this. How about the people that cheat there way through nursing school walk in and pass there boards at that time. You have nurses out there that don't know what there doing they passed because they are good at taking tests. This world is FULL of judgmental people, and I am not close to being one. I care for my patients and provide for them to make them safe and secure. Just because I can't pass a test that I have been trying to pass doesn't mean I don't have the KNOWLEDGE.

Very judgmental.

Thank you have a nice day! goodbye!

OH right and your not judging me right since I have yet to pass the exam....please leave me alone. I'm just being truthful and honest like you said in one of your posts.

Listen, I posted this to get advice from people on how they have been studying not to be let down and told that I won't be a good nurse because I haven't passed. You have to work for what you want in life, and I am willing to do whatever it may take. YOU don't know what I have been through while I was trying to pass this NCLEX before getting to this point. I went through a lot in my life that I sure do not need to make public known, but if you can't say or give me advice...please take your time and comment on something or someone else; because I don't have time for your negative comments at this time in my life.

Roser 13 did give you advice..unfortunately it just wasn't the kind of advice you may have wanted to hear...

Coming from a person who also srruggled while in school..I understand how hard times can contribute to not being as successful as you would like. If you feel like nursing is truly for you..keep going. As someone has already mentioned, maybe sitting down with someone like a tutor may help you to figure out where you are going wrong..i wish you the best

I am not a quitter; and to the people that tell me to move to a different career shame on you because you don't know my life situations. YOU don't know how hard I work for what I want in life. I am not a quitter and I never will be a quitter. I sure am not the only one that has failed so many times. I simply am a bad test taker. I passed the hands on part in my state. I was simply looking for advice on what to do....not to be told to give up on my dreams.
Be encouraged, don't over study. Use maybe 2 study sources tops and relax. You got this. You were near passing on everything I think you might be nervous while testing. Always go with your gut when selecting an answer and read the questions 3 times and read every word. Never give up. Never Ever.......It's never to late to be what you could've been" George Eliot

You just need to relax when preparing for and taking the test. You say you performed well in nursing school so...you know the material. Over-studying can lead to failure as under-studying. You know what you know so take that and don't pick up another book. Download an app that has questions and familiarize yourself with how to answer questions- NOT the question's topic.

Practice makes good.

I am currently an LPN and after nursing school I did not pick up a book or any study material. I did practice questions though because I needed to become familiar with the wording used that led me to choosing the best possible answer. That's what it always is- the BEST possible answer.

I graduated in December and took my NCLEX in July (because our school had trouble with scheduling our exit exam) and passed- first time. I didn't study and was sure I had forgotten most of the material but...you know what you know and the rest, is all about knowing how to answer the question.

Have a drink of chamomile tea before you go in to ease your nerves and KICK BUTT! :-D
