  1. You just need to relax when preparing for and taking the test. You say you performed well in nursing school so...you know the material. Over-studying can lead to failure as under-studying. You know what you know so take that and don't pick up another book. Download an app that has questions and familiarize yourself with how to answer questions- NOT the question's topic. Practice makes good. I am currently an LPN and after nursing school I did not pick up a book or any study material. I did practice questions though because I needed to become familiar with the wording used that led me to choosing the best possible answer. That's what it always is- the BEST possible answer. I graduated in December and took my NCLEX in July (because our school had trouble with scheduling our exit exam) and passed- first time. I didn't study and was sure I had forgotten most of the material but...you know what you know and the rest, is all about knowing how to answer the question. Have a drink of chamomile tea before you go in to ease your nerves and KICK BUTT! :-D
  2. Hey! The program at Riverview is a good one! You must read! Set aside the time to do so- at least 6 hours/wk. If you're able to read and comprehend the textbook material AND apply that material during clinical, you will be successful. Stay to yourself, don't make too many friends because everyone who pretends to be is not. Make sure to take time for yourself and family each week- you'll need that to keep sane. Otherwise, Congratulations on your beginning while I encounter my end. I graduate on 12/12/12!
