I need a 90% or better on my HESI!!!

Published

Hello everyone!!

I took the hesi in the beginning of this year and did mediocre on it. I received an 80, but unfortunately that score wasn't high enough to get in to the program. So, now I am studying again to retake it this august and hoping to get into this January 2015 RN program. I was told that I need to score AT LEAST an 90 on this test, so for everyone that has had high score what is your advice. I have a study guide book already which helped a little with the math. My biggest problem with math was the conversions, I couldn't remember how to do them and that was not covered in the book. The vocabulary was tricky as well, none of the words that I studied from the book were on the test. Are there any other good studying material that I can buy to help me. I desperately want to pass this test and get accepted to someones program!! I would appreciate all that help that I can get!

Get on youtube!!! It may sound strange but some of the greatest help I got in math was off of the tutors that I looked up on you tube. I ended up with a 92% on the math portion of the hesi. If you need help with conversions search conversions on there and you are sure to find someone that explains it in a clear and concise way!! Good luck!!!

I agree with cami9273, youtube was a great resource. I used youtube as well as practice tests in study book, got 94 on math section, and I do not like math, 93 total score. Keep studying the basic conversions and good luck.

Okay I will start youtubing then!!! And congratulations to the both of you on your scores!!! Did either of you have any advice on the vocabulary as well, or should I just keep studying from the book? Thank you guys again for all of your help, I really appreciate it!

Hi - I agree with Cami and Sam - Youtube is a great resource. I am not a math person and I made a 90 on my math section, 95 overall score. I used the study guide and I spent a lot of time on a site called Quizlet. It's full of student-made quizzes for about any subject you can think of. If you search HESI Math or HESI Vocabulary or HESI anything, a ton of quizzes come up. You can also turn the quizzes into flashcards to study online and also play a matching game to help you learn. I spent hours taking quizzes and I believe it really helped me. Good luck! You can do it!

Keep studying the book, go online and google hesi vocab and use quizlet (great site), like Beginning15 suggested. Good luck!

Sorry, random question passing through. Is the HESI like the TEAS?

Sorry, I have no idea on the TEAS test, have only taken hesi, I believe they are similar.

I have taken both and to me the Teas is waaaayyyy harder than the hesi!! Same format, timed, different portions, but harder.

Any good youtube videos for reading comphrension?

Sorry, random question passing through. Is the HESI like the TEAS?

I scored 92.7 on TEAS and 92.86 on HESI so I think they are similar enough at testing the material. They do ask questions in a slightly different manner though. The HESI is more objective whereas the TEAS questions make you think more to figure out exactly what they are asking.
