I didn't make it ya'll

Posted

Finals were this week, passed Fundamentals and Nursing Apps, but I just couldn't make it out of across the lifespan, 2 points away from passing!!! I know what I did wrong and what I need to do for next semester. Just hate I'm going to be a semester behind from my newly formed fam. Now I'll have to make new one's :( The only thing that makes me mad is I only failed one test!! I bombed it so bad though, and that's what counts. I'm already ready for next semester I should get an A this go around. Best of luck to everyone and I hope everyone did great on their finals and can at least take a week btw break to catch up on some much needed rest!

Sorry to hear about your situation, but I am glad you are picking yourself up and getting back on the horse!! It sounds like your school has an automatic admittance policy if you fail. I think that is good since mine does not. If there is room or space, then maybe. On the other hand, many have been known to get a second chance the following year. Anyway, good luck to you!!!

Yeah, if I had failed Fundamentals (clincial course) then I would have automatically received 3 strikes and had to sit out a semester and re-apply. Luckily that didn't happen:) Although I am very disappointed because I started off good and just bombed one test, I do feel everything happens for a reason. Financially this will work out better I was worried for next semester because I would have full time hours and I'm an out of state student. That's one positive, and another this way I will have a GREAT strong foundation in psych nursing since I'll have had it twice and that will prepare me well for 5th semester psych nursing. I can also help out the incoming freshman if they need it too since I've been there. I'm just going to pick up the pieces and move forward and that's all I can do. It is kinda scary because it will be with new instructors, and I'll still have to re-take the fundamentals final (I guess that's there way of seeing if youstill know what your doing). Since I won't be attending that class, I just hope they go the same schedule as my fundamentals class so I can keep up with the reading because we didn't go over every chapter so I hope they don't go over something we didn't

You have a good attitude. It's difficult to see the silver linings of a bad situation right off. I commend you for it.

You might try 'sitting in' on the fundamentals class, or at least, recruiting someone for notes to ensure there aren't any major changes. Because instructors are so individual with their approaches, you might well find that there are some changes.

Anyway, if you just 'sit in', off the rolls, you probably wouldn't have to pay tuition for it again. Or, you could maybe 'audit' it if you want official permission to attend the lectures - that's normally much cheaper.

Another option: just ask - because it's still required testing material, you might find that your instructors don't object to your unofficial presence - and that might chalk up to some motivation points on your part.

Good luck.

I'm so sorry to hear this, but like the others, I think your attitude is going to take you a long way towards a great outcome next semester! Way to go!

If it makes you feel any better, there are 19 people in my class (final semester) who didn't make it, and there are only 9 spots for re-admission for Spring. Some of those are obviously going to have to wait until Fall of 07 or possibly Spring 08 to readmit. THAT is a tragedy!

Take care of yourself, and enjoy the holidays!

Gosh, I'm so sorry to hear this. You came so close to passing. I do hope that you won't give up!

Quite a few people either quit or knew very early on that they weren't going to make it through fundamentals....one person figured it out a month or so ago, so has withdrawn, but comes for lecture and the final review the other day.

Unfortunately, I understand for our school if you don't pass fundamentals (1st semester) you go back on the list....I think I heard she's close to #200....if you fail any of the following semesters you just start over if there's an opening....so she'll have to sit out at least a semester (or more)...hang in there....you'll have a leg up when you do start again and perhaps can get some ideas from next semester's class on what to bone up on during breaks?

Best wishes!!:flowersfo

I am sorry you did not pass lifespan. Is there a way you can clep it over the winter recess? I know you probably want to relax before you start next semester. I would take the clep exam if I were you.

What's clep exam?

What's clep exam?

A clep exam lets you 'test' out of certain basic college courses by demonstrating profiency.

I believe the other poster was referring to 'human lifespan development', a basic college course. I think YOU are referring to a specific nursing course, of which, there is no clep test.

That was my understanding, anyway. Was the class you referred to a co-req? Or, part of the nursing curriculum?

pick yourself up and try again!!

Oh no, this is "across the lifespan'' and NUR course, nope no clep for it I'm sure or my teacher would have told me. I WISH!!! because I sure know things that I missed and I'm sure I could pass it. Like I said I only failed one test, and I had food poisoning that week, not an excuse but I'm sure that aggravated the problem. I took the test anyway because I dread make-up test, they are harder. Eventhough I only failed one, that's all it takes. I've gone through my five stages of grief, first I denied it, then I was angry, I even bargined with God, I got depressed, and now I'm accepting that I failed across the lifespan:rotfl: ....but I'm coming back and I'm getting an A doggone it!!!

my daughter took the third semester 3 times, she passed and graduated. i chock it up to life experience. when she looks back at it now she said in reality the time that passed helped her grow up. she was grateful for the opportunity to be able to go back that 3rd time. you know the old saying when god shuts the door he always opens a window. always keep striving forward. you may have to detour a time or two but look at the scenery you would have missed.

yes about the scenery! I do think things happen for a reason too..we're STILL waiting for our final grades to come out..I keep thinking to myslef what am I going to do If I don't pass...you all have such wonderful attitudes it really inspires me..sometimes I have to do a intraspection and do a quick check on my own attitude ;/ It's not the end of the world and the key word here that will keep me going is "onward".
