I was told that the programme is two years with summers off and i am trying to get a feel of what it is like doing weekens with clinicals. Are the teachers supportive? is there anyone in the programme but does not live in new jersey?..............plzz feel free to respond...thanx

Hi aaronn2,

CCM has a great weekend program. I just passed nursing 2, on my way to nrs 3 in Jan. Thank God. It is a very intense program. I have a full-time job (networking), a four year old son and an understanding boy friend. I'm telling you right off the back, you will have no social life and if you do it will hurt you in the end. All I can say is stay focused and don't get up. The teachers are wonderful, they are all there to help and from day one, they will tell you study the study quide questions and powerpoints, Study and do more Studying but try to understand the concepts of what's being taught. Not understanding is what made it hard for me in nursing 1. I knew the chapters in side and out but not knowing how to apply it as a nursing with the INTERVENTIONS AND the REASONS for them is why I struggled.

Fri- 2-5pm Lecture, Sat 8:30am - 11:15 Lab - then 1-3pm Clinical, Sun 7-3pm Clinical.

St. Claires and Morristown hospital are great for clinical. I'm going to Clilton this Jan, so I'm not sure how this hospital is.

Always stay a week ahead with the leactures and always ask questions. The professors are great, Esp. Prof Horan. Everyone love her. You will be able to listen to the lectures online for nrs 1,2 and 3. You can also download them to your computer using Itunes then to your ipod and listen to them over and over. This really helped me alot. Esp. in Nrs 2.

Good Luck and Stay focused.

thankyou and i congratulate you for persevering....you a wealth of information. so would u say then that CCM is NOT like some nursing schools that lectures on one thing and then the tests are totally diff?....I was also told that i will be doing clinicals at chilton and i am hoping that i will have a good experience.

I have been trying to locate these books (at a discounted price) on several websites but so far nothing except fundamentals of nursing. do u have any idea....?

Dimensional analysis for meds 3rd, 2006-Curren

Nursing care plans 6Ed,2007-gulanick

Pharmacology: A nursing process approach 5 Ed, 2006-Kee&Hayes

This is like my 100th time reading ur thread(very useful). I was soo nervous before because i was trying to figure how they are able to pack all that information in a weekend programme and we still would have summers off. I was recommended to a wonderful website(yahoo groups for CCM nursing students) that i am SURE will greatly assist me soon. Have you used it b4?

What was the drop out rate(if any) like in nur1-2?

did you find yourself just way too overwhelm with all the lectures and chapters to study........?

I forgot to add these books, which one did you choose and why?

Davis drug guide,2007-Deglin&Vallerand

Nurses drug handbook,2007 Hodgson

Saunders nursing drug handbook 2007-Saunders

i hope that i have not exhausted u with all these questions and thank you in advance

I ordered my books from amazon.com and bn.com at discounted prices. As far as the drug books go, I would have to check when I get home and let you know. The drug book would be mostly use for you care plans that due in clinical. You would most likely want to get a drug book that is a duplicate of what's in the book.

I didn't use the yahoo groups in nrs1 or nrs2, sometimes I wished I did receive info from them when it came to lectures that had a lot of information. I did have two classmates that were members and they would email material from time to time which helped me a lot. I subscribed about two weeks ago and was accepted: I will difinitely use the material for nrs 3.

Our failure/drop out rate from nrs 1 to nrs 2, I think was 30 students down to 23. And from nrs 2 to nrs 3 as far as I know now is 20 students, but I guess I'll see the actuall count in a few weeks.

all the best for 2008....... and thanx for the info......I think i will just have to go to the school on jan 7th and purchase the books(as i cannot find them discounted) so i can prepare for 1st day of class. There are some objectives laid out for the first weekend and i really need to pre read. I signed up for the website too and i hope there will be useful info because i will need it...........geez i am so nervous but also excited.

I am wondering if they have changed the books and the year for the spring semester because, or maybe they have all been sold out on the web..
