can some please give me advise on what to do,
I have been in LIU for 1 1/2 years and i just recently failed my second course, due to that they kicked me out. i tried writing to the ARP comittee but they denied my letter. then i made an apt with the dean of the nursing dept, i mean it took me a long time to get that apt with her... when i finally saw her she spent like 4 min on me and told me that these are our rules and we must go by them. you failed two courses so u can either try a different major, or go for lpn. and then maybe come back in a year after you get ur lpn lisence.
but now i just began applying to different nursing schools and no one wants to accept me becasue my gpa went down and at the same time they dont accept nursing credits.
now with all this in my head a had several friends in my old program who passes telling me that there are several students who failed more then one class that are being given chances to continue and take those classes over. one girl in particular who failed two classes in the same term, shich is being given the chance to take them both over again.
is this favoritism or what? i am so furious that some people just get everything smack in the palm of there hands and otheres who try with all their might arent given any chances!! uugh .....
please please help me someone.. i dont wanna sue anyone i just want another chance at the program... what can i say to them to change their mind about me??
I learned this from the recent Karate Kid movie. "Life will know us down, but we can choose whether or not to stand back up." If you really want to be a nurse, then I say go for the LPN program. But, first figure out what went wrong and work on it. Chances are, it will happen again in nursing school. If it is studying strategies, time management, memorizations, etc., then just work on them and master them before going into nursing school. Mastering these things will help you a lot when you get there. They will also help you in your nursing career too. I guarantee it.
But, if you don't know if you really like it or if you can take the increasing stress, then I say, move on to a different career. Don't spend your time on it because it won't be worth fighting for.
About the nursing schools, I have to admit that I dislike their strict rules. But, I am thankful in a way too because they are doing it for us. For example, what if a student who fails nursing classes has a very high risk of failing the NCLEX Exam? Wouldn't the student be thankful, if he/she was stopped from going all the way through only to fail the NCLEX and have to pay back a bunch of loans? I have heard that nursing school is like a screening test. Only those who are most likely to succeed on the NCLEX and the nursing career will pass the classes.
Good luck to you!!!
been where you are . i got kicked out of nursing school in bsn program. no help. I wasted 8 months then i went to lpn program and i m now an lpn. I m going to rn school in april. I can tell you lpn laid a foundation in nursing. THnk god i dint waste thinking about bsn degree. Nursing schools are very strict no matter lpn, rn or bsn . In my lpn program, you can fail only 1 class then you get kicked out after that. I thank god for being lpn and I am learning every day about nursing . Proud lpn.
Well,
the problem here lies with the fact that you do not know for sure that some people failed more than one course. It could be a rumor.
It sounds like it was school policy. It's not necessarily an unfair thing. It's the rules.
I hope you can find another program to attend and get your life back on track. It's hard. :/
So encouraging. I love your story. Mine has also been a long long journey but like you said ..as long as it's "heartfelt" and something you sincerely want, stick with it, keep at it, push through, fall, stumble, get up, brush off, and get at it again. Just remember, we never stop learning!

I'm sorry you failed out of your program, no matter what the circumstances, it still hurts. My good friend failed maternity after doing poorly on the final and when she filed an appeal they told her that they weren't even going to look at it, she failed her second class by 2/10ths of a point (.2). Same deal, we can only take 1 class over, unless your me then you can't even take one class over. I failed my first clinical exam, failed the class, failed the program. They wouldn't allow me to take the class over even though the policy is you can re-take one nursing class. Anyway, we are both going to other schools this fall, live and learn, right??? So, whether our own fault or not, it hurts and I'm sorry. Good for you for recognizing what went wrong and taking responsibility, and good for you for not giving up! You can do this!!! I wish you the best of luck at your next school :)
