I just took the NCLEX - PN, my thoughts.

Nursing Students NCLEX

I feel like burning most the LVN review books I bought as they did me no good what-so-ever on the NCLEX. The questions I got came out of left field. Stuff that wasn't taught in school like post mordum care for jewish men and questions about the Buhdist faith. I couldn't believe the questions I got. It felt like I guessed at half the questions. What a terrible feeling I have now. I have went threw the ENTIRE Saunders LNV review book and cd TWICE, that's 6,000 questions, as well as the kaplan review book, "lvn made easy", and the mosby cd. Total review questions and rationales done exceeded 8,000. Yet it didn't help me at all. Yes I read the rationales for ALL the questions/ answers. The NCSBN.ORG review was the only thing that helped me as the questions were similar to the NCLEX.

The VAST majority of question were priority questions. I had learned all the tricks to answer these in the Kaplan book. Only one big problem....the priority questions in kaplan are a complete joke (very easy) compared to the actual NCLEX ones which were brutal.

My computer shut off at 85 and I am positive I got the 85th question wrong because I looked it up when I got home. I hear if the computer stops at 85 and you miss the last question ...you most likely failed if you weren't doing so hot. I wanted to throw up when I left the testing center.

So hear I sit and have to wait 3 weeks to get result in CA. I will start checking the LVN board website next week, but I have a bad feeling my name won't be up there and I will have to take the NCLEX again.

Congrats!!!!

congratulations to all of you. I live in californai and am waiting to get my ATT but they have already messed up on our paperwork and now that you say they are moving, it makes sense. i am nervous i will not pass NCLEX so you are all my inspiration. I am studying like crazy and hope to study for another month before taking it. I am so scared. Even though I graduated from LVN school on Nov. 18, 2005 with an A, I now feel like I know nothing taking the practice tests and not knowing the answers and doing poorly! Did you guys feel like that too. I want to take it soon before I forget any more stuff. You are all awsome. Keep me in your thoughts too. I hope I can pass it and do as well as you all have. I am 48 and my daughter is also in RN school so we drive each other crazy with test taking stress!!!!! Take care everyone. Oldernursing student in California (nervous and scared of NCLEX!!!!!!!!!) Help!!!!!

YEP! I think I can safely say that almost everyone feels that way- I didn't learn anything and will never pass this test. You actually know more than you think at this point... You will do fine. Just hit those books. We are all pulling for you and your daughter! Congratulations on Graduating, and hang in there; Your almost to the finish line!!!! Just a tiny bit more!!!!

In California, you do not get a license number when you pass the nclex- you still have to pay more money, and wait a few more weeks, for your license paperwork to be hand processed and receive a license number. So, because of this long drawn out way of doing things, they sometimes give temp or IP licenses to people who have had to wait a long time.

ah, ok...in NY we have to send in the licensure fee ($135) and NCLEX fee ($200) and await the ATT, than get a test date. upon passing the test, your license# is posted at the office of professions site within a few days and the license mailed to you.

i am still waiting for the ATT, hopefully will be here within 2 more weeks.

Thanks for the encouragement, it really means alot. Have you already passed the NCLEX? My friend and I just registered for the test today, so now it's just get through as many questions as possible and study till we drop. My daughter just finished her first semester in RN program so she has a while to take the NCLEX. This is nervewracking isn't it. You guys are my mentors!!! Thanks for your support. Take care all of you.

I just graduated in Dec, 2005. I have the Sylvestri NCLEX review book. From what I've read here Saunders is not a good one, which I also have. I was just wondering if anyone took any online courses that they could recommend.

The Saunders NCLEX book is written by a nurse named Linda Silvestri. The Saunders book is the same as the Silvestri review book. If you want to take an online course, you might want to look into taking a Kaplan course. They'll refund your money if you don't pass NCLEX.

Just wanted to wish you all a Happy New Year with good news and great careers to look forward to in 2006. You are all awsome and will be great nurses!!!!!!!

I graduated in August. I took the NCLEX-PN exam December 22 and passed at 85 questions. By December 28th I had seen my license issued by the PA State Board of Nursing so I knew I had passed. It took me about an hour and twenty minutes to complete the exam.

While there were some questions that came out of left field, I tought overall the exam was not any more difficult than the exams I took in school. During school we were required to take a number of ATI tests in addition to the classroom exams. We had to pass those as well before moving on.

In preparation I used NCLEX Made Easy, Saunder's NCLEX-PN, and Lippincott's NCLEX-PN.

Kaplan and http://www.ncsbn.org are all you need to pass the nclex. I passed my exam with 85 questions and it took about an hour. Saunder's, mosby etc adress nursing content which you should have learned in nursing school. Kaplan and ncsbn adress the types of questuions you will see on the nclex, plus nursing content. There is a reason kaplan offers a money back guarantee if you don't pass....thier stuff works. ncsbn.org makes the nclex...so enuff said about them.

Are you sure Kaplan offers the money back guarantee for the NCLEX-PN preparation? I know they do for the NCLEX-RN.
