I just took the NCLEX - PN, my thoughts.

I feel like burning most the LVN review books I bought as they did me no good what-so-ever on the NCLEX. The questions I got came out of left field. Stuff that wasn't taught in school like post mordum care for jewish men and questions about the Buhdist faith. I couldn't believe the questions I got. It felt like I guessed at half the questions. What a terrible feeling I have now. I have went threw the ENTIRE Saunders LNV review book and cd TWICE, that's 6,000 questions, as well as the kaplan review book, "lvn made easy", and the mosby cd. Total review questions and rationales done exceeded 8,000. Yet it didn't help me at all. Yes I read the rationales for ALL the questions/ answers. The NCSBN.ORG review was the only thing that helped me as the questions were similar to the NCLEX.

The VAST majority of question were priority questions. I had learned all the tricks to answer these in the Kaplan book. Only one big problem....the priority questions in kaplan are a complete joke (very easy) compared to the actual NCLEX ones which were brutal.

My computer shut off at 85 and I am positive I got the 85th question wrong because I looked it up when I got home. I hear if the computer stops at 85 and you miss the last question ...you most likely failed if you weren't doing so hot. I wanted to throw up when I left the testing center.

So hear I sit and have to wait 3 weeks to get result in CA. I will start checking the LVN board website next week, but I have a bad feeling my name won't be up there and I will have to take the NCLEX again.

I Do Understand How You Are Feeling. I Took My Nclex Back In April But My Questions Very Simple And Easy. I Studied From Saunders, Exam Cram,hesi And This Cd Called Nclex 2500. But There Is No Need For You To Check The Bvnpt Website Cause You Will Not See Your Name Until After You Have Paid For Your License. It Took 5 Weeks Just To Get My Result Saying That I Passed. I Paid For My License May 16th And My Name Was Just Put On The Website This Morning. I Figure That I Should Actually Have The License In Hand Sometime Next. But Dont Worry I'm Sure You Passed If Your Computer Shut Off At 85.i Think That They Would Stop It That Low If You Failed.

So Its An Early Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!

Hey guyz, just passed my 4th qrter final gettin ready 2 send in the application 4 the stateboards. I got the newest edition of saunders and the new edition of kaplan. i know that they changed somethings on the state exam , for the ones that took the state boards recently, what should i be focusing? any tips , advice .......... .....HELP

i'm new to this site but just took the exam and a little shaken here becausethe com stopped me for a break at say 60 or so questions then finanlly stopped me at 85 questions, this was by far one of the most difficult exams i have come across, the saunders 3000 or more questions i did had just a little impact, i learn't it takes 3-4wks to get your result, itested in southern california, it already looks like the longest wait of my life...

I take my test this thursday im trying not 2 freak out , i found out next wensday if i passed, ive been studying the saunders

No implication at all. There is an automatic break after 2 hours. All it means is you took your time. 85 is just a number, doesn't mean pass or fail. All you can do is wait for your results so try and relax

ill bet you did great, i found out saturday tht i passed , i got 85 questions half of them were meds, i got at least 5 s.a.t.a questions and soem maternity i thougt 4 sure i had failed b/c i was so unsure about the meds , but thank God i passed. so have faith in urself:loveya:

I took my NCLEXPN in March 2009 the first time and I failed it. The exam gave me all 205 questions. I felt so bad and embarassed. I am scheduled to take it again on June 19 2009. I am stressing over the exam. It means so much to me to pass this test. So many doors would open up for me and most of all I would be able to afford a descent salary to provide for my family. I have been studying for this exam for a month now. I bought the saunders flash cards (3000) questions of which i have completed all and i bought the saunders 4th edition book of which I completed all the questions at the end of the chapter and the exam at the end of the book which was over 1000 questions I also purchased a Hurst book with 800 questions which I completed. Each book contains a CD which has questions of up to 4000 total I completed one CD and i am working on the second one plus reviewing the saunders book again. I am tired of studying. My whole family is rooting for me . My nerves are driving me crazy. i am terrified of this test. God help me! Even my 2 year old daughter and 5 year old son pray for me at night. I am so nervous.

I took nclexpn in Feb2008; and I passed. I believe what really helped me was being CALM. I made my appointment at 11:30am; on a Friday. That way I was able to get up and eat my breakfast and have my coffee; and I did study alittle before I left for the test center; which was about 40mins from my home. I studied alittle tidbits; like normal blood levels for sodium; mag; potassium etc. I only had 85 questions. I may have a 1-2 math questions; but I had alot of: all that apply questions. But I think what really saved me; really; was NOT letting this test get to me. You can only do one question at a time......so ...you read the question at least twice; then eliminate the answers; YOU HAVE TO BE "IN THE QUESTION"...be the NURSE that you are. I had questions like; 'WHICH PERSON WOULD YOU TREAT FIRST'....you have to eliminate....and think like a nurse....YOU CAN DO IT !!!!

LIKE I SAID....READ THE QUESTION...TWICE....THEN ELIMINATE THE ANSWERS....YOU CAN PICK THE RIGHT ANSWER....BY STAYING CALM....YOU CAN DO IT.....

I dont like to take tests in the morning...so that is why I took mine at 11:30....so do whats good for you!!!

It makes a difference. Also....I was not a brain in school.....I got alot of 85-94 on my exams....but my point is....ITS HARD TO REALLY FOCUS IF YOU ARE FREAKING OUT/OR STRESSING..SO WHEN YOU SIT DOWN TO TAKE THE TEST; TAKE A DEEP BREATH...TELL YOURSELF YOU CAN DO IT...AND ITS ONE QUESTION AT A TIME...so tell yourself...its just a test...that you wont let it get to you....THATS WHAT I DID....AND I KNOW IT IS WHAT TRULY SAVED ME.
