I just took the NCLEX - PN, my thoughts.

Nursing Students NCLEX

I feel like burning most the LVN review books I bought as they did me no good what-so-ever on the NCLEX. The questions I got came out of left field. Stuff that wasn't taught in school like post mordum care for jewish men and questions about the Buhdist faith. I couldn't believe the questions I got. It felt like I guessed at half the questions. What a terrible feeling I have now. I have went threw the ENTIRE Saunders LNV review book and cd TWICE, that's 6,000 questions, as well as the kaplan review book, "lvn made easy", and the mosby cd. Total review questions and rationales done exceeded 8,000. Yet it didn't help me at all. Yes I read the rationales for ALL the questions/ answers. The NCSBN.ORG review was the only thing that helped me as the questions were similar to the NCLEX.

The VAST majority of question were priority questions. I had learned all the tricks to answer these in the Kaplan book. Only one big problem....the priority questions in kaplan are a complete joke (very easy) compared to the actual NCLEX ones which were brutal.

My computer shut off at 85 and I am positive I got the 85th question wrong because I looked it up when I got home. I hear if the computer stops at 85 and you miss the last question ...you most likely failed if you weren't doing so hot. I wanted to throw up when I left the testing center.

So hear I sit and have to wait 3 weeks to get result in CA. I will start checking the LVN board website next week, but I have a bad feeling my name won't be up there and I will have to take the NCLEX again.

i hope you passed the NCLEX...

SweetPeaNurse,

Everyone deals with stress differently so you may not neccessarily experience your test the same way. I felt a great need to express my experience as I could not relate to anyone else in my "non virtual world " like I could here. :) I did not freak out, until I was actually taking the test and actually working on the questions. I guess I dealt with pre-test jitters by just studying more. I studied alot...

Sweetpeanurse,

Don't freak out! Just focus on your studies for now. After graduation, that's when it gets even harder because you have to be disciplined and force yourself to study. I studied everyday for 6 weeks, 8 hours a day, and taking breaks every hour or so.

I did panic a week before. I was so relaxed during the test and wasn't nervous at all. I honestly thought the test was easy (which I think is a bad sign). I'll find out by next Monday if I passed. :uhoh3:

Goodluck with your studies sweetpeanurse!

hello everyone! congratulations to all those who have passed! and for those who haven't taken it, i share your anxiety!! lol. i was wondering, do any of you know what exactly changed for the nclex this month? i read the BON website, so all i know is that they raised the passing rate (or lowered the amt u can get wrong??) but is there anything else? i'd appreciate it if someone could let me know! i'm taking my test this sat & this "change" is just about the MAIN thing that's killing me! AUGH!!!!!!!

My heart stopped when I found out that I had received a letter from the boards today. It turns out that the letter is about DOJ and FBI rejecting my application because " I needed to clarify the reason for fingerprinting". It's so frustrating! I was shaking on my way to my house and kept thinking wow this is it, my life is about to change. But much to my dismay it was a false alarm.

I don't have a slight idea when my results are coming. It's been 4 weeks! Why was I only informed of this now? I turned it in on January 22nd. I feel so helpless. With the way things are going, I might not get my results until the beginning of May :crying2: I don't think they will mail the results until the BON receive the clearance from DOJ & FBI. I guess I just have to wait.

I dont know if you passed as I have not read the entire thread yet, but today this was ME. I cried all the way home. I had the exact type of questions and realized there is really no way to study for this test.

HEY GUYS!!!!

My NCLEX PN Exam is this Friday.... i'm freaking out because i feel like i'm not prepared yet i've been studying like crazy. I'm guessing its my nervous. I hope and pray everything goes well and I pass...PLEASE PRAY FOR ME, I'll need it! Thanks! And i'll forsure post how everything went. =) I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

Hi everyone!

Well, it's been 3 weeks and 2 days and I have not receive my results. I took my NCLEX-PN on 3/31/08. After, talking to a friend, that drove down to Sacramento last Thursday (4/17/08)to get her results they say they were only working on March 20, 2008. I am assuming now it's going to take 4-5 weeks instead. I keep on checking online if my license number will pop up (assuming I pass) but nothing.

I believe they do not assign you a license number until you send them the license fee ($120.00) to get your license, assuming you live in California. But I keep hoping my name will pop-up. It's driving me crazy. I just want to know if I pass or not. It's hard to focus when you do not know.

My test consist of more than 10 but less than 15 SATA, 1 calu., 1 lab values, prioritizing, and patient's understanding. I felt sooooo awful and bad after the test. I can't believe how much SATA's questions I had and that's what freak me out and also the computer stopped at 85. Yikes!!!!!

Congrats to everyone that passed and good luck to everyone who's going to take their test.

Hello Khargia! It's been 4 weeks & 2 days for me and still no results. I should receive it by this weekend. I"m just sick of waiting. I had called them last week and they also said they were only working on the March 20 exams. I called them today and they said my results were already mailed. I just hope all the wait is worth it:uhoh21:

Pinkypink,

What you're feeling right now is normal. I was studying like crazy as well and still felt like it wasn't enough. I didn't study 2 days before and I think it helped because I was totally calm during the exam. You'll be fine.

Goodluck to all of us!!!

Hi everyone. I took my test yesterday and today checked the website and I passed. License number and everything

I had 85 and most were priority, planning, and pt teaching. I only had one calc and I can't say it was even hard.
