I just took the NCLEX - PN, my thoughts.

I feel like burning most the LVN review books I bought as they did me no good what-so-ever on the NCLEX. The questions I got came out of left field. Stuff that wasn't taught in school like post mordum care for jewish men and questions about the Buhdist faith. I couldn't believe the questions I got. It felt like I guessed at half the questions. What a terrible feeling I have now. I have went threw the ENTIRE Saunders LNV review book and cd TWICE, that's 6,000 questions, as well as the kaplan review book, "lvn made easy", and the mosby cd. Total review questions and rationales done exceeded 8,000. Yet it didn't help me at all. Yes I read the rationales for ALL the questions/ answers. The NCSBN.ORG review was the only thing that helped me as the questions were similar to the NCLEX.

The VAST majority of question were priority questions. I had learned all the tricks to answer these in the Kaplan book. Only one big problem....the priority questions in kaplan are a complete joke (very easy) compared to the actual NCLEX ones which were brutal.

My computer shut off at 85 and I am positive I got the 85th question wrong because I looked it up when I got home. I hear if the computer stops at 85 and you miss the last question ...you most likely failed if you weren't doing so hot. I wanted to throw up when I left the testing center.

So hear I sit and have to wait 3 weeks to get result in CA. I will start checking the LVN board website next week, but I have a bad feeling my name won't be up there and I will have to take the NCLEX again.

I am now wondering what happend with popcorn. does anyone know?
I think he might have failed. He recently sent me a PM asking how and where to find a particular review book, so that's an ominous sign. After all, why would an individual show interest in another review book unless he/she needs to retake the NCLEX?

Nonetheless, my fingers remain crossed for Popcorn. :saint:

Commuter, do you know where you want to work yet?
I am still in the process of trying to establish residency in Texas and endorse the California license into Texas. But I will initially work anywhere I feel welcome.

I had to wait 26 days...i hate you !! kidding of course. =)
Well, I purposely took my boards after the Christmas holiday, thinking that Sacramento would process my results slightly faster. :chuckle

I don't know what that system is? I take mine on 2/16 and I used Delmar, Mosby's (still in Mosby's) and will probably get Kaplan.

it's a computerized version review that gives you sample tests and then gives you rationales for wrong answers etc... I guess it is relatively new, our school just got it this past year.

If you take a composite test, it will give you a NCLEX predictor, ie, if it thinks you will pass or fail.

Thanks Sahara, I will check out that website. I take NCLEX in California right after you on 2/16/06. Stressed out right along with you!!!! Take care, good luck and will be looking for good news from you here soon. You'll be in my thoughts and prayers. Oldernursingstudent in California :)

I too just took the NCLEX PN along with another friend. I totally agree with what you saying about feeling like you had to guess or never seen the information. I studied alot. I have 2 friends that took it though and felt exactly like you and shut off at 85 but passed. 1 shut off at 102 passed, 1 at 107 passed, and one at 95 passed. Today I shut off at 130 and feel incompetent. My friend shut off at 85. We are scared to death. We wouldnt even know where to begin to re-take. We cant sleep, eat, or breath. :imbar I work as a LPN-shadow at a nursing home, and I will not only flunk the NCLEX, but lose my job as well. I am devastated after taking that test. I would never sugar coat it. We did have one girl who shut off at 102 and failed. :crying2: I feel like Ill be joining her soon. I will know by Friday for sure as I tested in GA.

I have a friend who used the ATI system and still had the same questions like Saunders, Mosby, and Lippencott review. Listen to BigB and try those others along with your ati

Why when you come to this site it shows you old postings prior to new postings. Have I set something up wrong. I thought you would see new postings first and was responding to posts put up in December.
