Start by visiting the websites of a few schools you might be interested in. See what their requirements are and go from there.

Excuse me for my ignorance, but I actually don't know the answer to this one. I'll be honest - other than the fact that a GED is an exam that states one has met the academic requirements equivalent to those obtained with a secondary school education, I don't know the first thing about GEDs. Do colleges accept GED holders?

Yes they do lol I was just wondering about this particular program but I did some research there are many nurses who has a GED. Thanks

I don't have a GED, but I assume it might be OK if the applicant's placement scores meet the minimum requirements ...at least for community college.

Specializes in NICU.
Specializes in school nurse.

All caps and exclamation point for the title on this subject?

Relax. You should be contacting the schools with programs you're interested in instead of anonymous folks on a nursing forum.

Honestly, programs change, so even if some of the nurses have gone to places you're interested in, their knowledge about the schools may be outdated...

I agree with the other comments its best if you research schools in your area and see the requirements. Typically, LPN takes about 2 years to complete while RN is 2 years of prereqs and 2 years of nursing. It's also very typical of LPN's to go back to school for 1 year for their RN degree. At the end of the day, it depends on how dedicated you are and what you want to pursue. If your heart is not in it for the right reasons, I would say look into other careers because or else your going to be miserable, nursing is a lot of hard work.

Specializes in 15 years in ICU, 22 years in PACU.
GOOGLE.

Do some research on your own. Good practice for the grown up life.

your ged allows you to take classes at the community college level. your pre reqs may be around two years. then if your grades are god you can transfer to a university or apply for an adn program at a community college. the nursing program itself is an extra 2-3 years after your prereqs, so a total of 4-5 years.
