I Hate People (my rant)

Published

The Sum Up:

Why I hate people in general (reasons why):

*When they stare at me for over 3 seconds for no apparent reason! Especially, when I'm trying to eat a subway sandwich or something and they just feel the need to watch me eat. Or when I'm trying to fix my hair in a portable mirror and they just feel the need to glance at me more then twice. Once should be enough because it's rude!

*When they walk so slowww in front of me to the point where I just want to push them. Because I am a very impatient person to the point where the littlest things tick me off if it's not fast enough.

*I hate when people tries to start a conversation with me! So I just smile and nod my head and hope that they get the jist that I don't want to talk. And it's not even people in general, it's actually because I'm a bad conversationalist!

Why I dislike kids:

* I don't necessarily hate them but I do force myself to be nice as possible to them. However, I really don't like interacting with children unless it's to hold a baby.

*I don't want kids until my late 30s. Go figure. And I especially don't want to get married because every relationship I get into it only lasts for about 3 months because I love being a loner. If I'm going to work seeing people then I would like to come home and see no people.

But I love animals (I have 4 dogs)! However, I just don't see myself working with animals in the future because I would love to keep my hands in tact.

And no guys I am not trolling. This is really an everything for me and it's the reasons why it is so hard for me to commit to nursing. And I actually have an appointment set up with a therapist July 18 before I go off to nursing school and it's to find out why I really act this way.

So I just wanted to make this thread because after scrolling Allnurses for the last two days I find that threads like these are not common but their are people out there who is just like me and wants to go into nursing. I want to be a nurse because I find that I really like helping people and kids at their weakest points but other than that I hate people.

I appreciate your honesty and truly feel that you would benefit from therapy to unravel some of the issues that you are having. I would definitely hold off on pursuing a job in nursing until you feel you are more comfortable around people. It sounds like you might actually have some issues with social phobia and nursing will certainly worsen these feelings if this is the case. It is high stress and requires constant interaction with people of all backgrounds, constant meetings etc. There is also a sense of hyperawareness that you seem to be experiencing where you feel stared at and watched. These are definitely things a therapist can help you with. You can push through these issues with help and commitment.Good luck and don't give up!

Thank you for that

Thank you for that

We don't know who you are talking to. Please use the quote feature.

Do you have experience In nursing? Not trying to be rude in any way! I'm just wondering, if you did have any medical experience, how did that workout for you?

In the OPs post she stated that she is about to start nursing school.

Later, she stated that she currently works at Panera.

I read the first page of comments but no other pages. I empathize with you!

I do have kids, I love MY kids, and tolerate them well. Still working on tolerating other people's children. I too start school in August. I don't think I necessarily hate people, that's a strong word... I feel I am more introverted and self-conscious so I don't feel like my people skills are that great. I also have resting ***** face. HAH!

I love how you said, "I go to work and see people so I'd like to come home and see no people." I LOL'd hard at that. I get what you're sayin' ... I think we will overcome our barriers with time. :) Fake it til ya make it right?!

To Ratlady-think it's awesome that even though you feel you don't have people skills and feel awkward in social situations that you are to work through it and go to school despite these feelings. I have a feeling you will do just fine!

wow, lots of replies! I couldn't keep up. How did this become an animal thread? lol cute though. Anyway to the original poster. It's great that you found interest in a different profession. Is not that you will do bad, but you can do better else where. I thought I wanted to be a nurse, but after a while I saw how that wouldn't work for me. To be a nurse you have to be born for it. You have to love most, if not everything, about it. Just like any other career. I think is great that you are recognizing you have a problem, and are getting help. I agree with some of the replies, once you start college it may get better. Some classes might change your view about things. Some classes that changed my view about some things, and helped me personally were psychology of personal effectiveness, which was based in positive psychology, sociology, social environment, maybe I can add philosophy too. They can be eye-opening. Anyway, I hope everything goes well for you. It would be nice if you kept us updated on your progress. :)

If you haven't hugged anyone in three years how are you going to get up close and personal with your patients? (ex: baths, wiping them, inserting IVs/catheters)

We have already covered this in previous posts. I feel all that is left is pretty much just beating the dead horse.

We truly have a society that allows free speech. Are you in the medical profession? worse, are you a caring nurse? Whom do you like or care about?

Specializes in Emergency.
I'm confused... how does someone not see the difference between dead and dying? This is a fundamental item that any health care provider should really understand well.

To paraphrase: dying is mostly dead which means somewhat alive. With dead, well, just check the pockets for loose change.

It'll take a miracle.....
