What to do when you REALLY had like 3 of your instructors and can't stand the ENTIRE program because of politics? Is it time to leave at this point? Just wondering...

I guess my main problem is inconsistancies in my program. I realize that there will people you like and people you hate. Thats just part of life. But I hate all the pettiness, cattiness between students, hateful instructors and trying to be someones pet student. I dont have to like them (and they dont have to like me) I just want an education. But it's hard to do when an instructor lets another get away with murder while I am condemed for loud sneezing. You know what I mean? :angryfire

It's all politics and I can only "lay low" so long. *sigh* I guess I'm just discouraged.

Don't worry. You aren't the only one discouraged. I am thinking about transferring to another nursing school, but it seems to me that they are all the same. I wonder if there are any that are decent. I guess I will just have to grin and bear it.

I know what you mean and thank you for elaborating!
I went back to school after almost 20 years, and my it has been an eye opener. I think way back when, I was naive. Now I sometimes question why others are there. Then I have to remember why "I" am there. What "my" goals are which do not include kissing up and following the director around like the rest of her little groupies...make me
Some days I feel like instructors have it out for me...I don't let them get to me though, sure isn't easy but I am in this for "me" , it is something that "I" always wanted to do and no one will stand in the way of that.
2 more semesters after this one and I'm soooooooooooooooo DONE!

Intead of leaving or accepting the status quo ("playing the game"). Think of what you can do to improve things and try to get everything you can out of your interactions with difficult people that you can (this is a valuable skill that will serve you throughout your life!).
I guess what I am saying is stay positive, be grateful and work as best you can with what you've got (as opposed to mourning what you don't) and do what you can to help other students get through the program.
A crappy nursing program still has plenty to teach you and even some "unique" learning opportunities.

whoa!! Perhaps you are in my program?! I'm in the same boat, but honestly, it isn't worth changing. Some schools don't transfer other nursing programs courses and it will only set you back. I just keep movin' along, making my own way and making the best out of it. Hopefully you are getting the basic tools and with those and an added amount of time put in, can get the best out of your education. Hopefully:)
Good luck:)

Don't worry about the politics. I agree with the others who say keep your eyes on the prize. Concentrate on learning as much as you can and block out the negativity. I mean after you graduate and become a nurse are you even going to care about those stupid catty girls?? Nah, chances are you won't even think of them...too bad for them that they wasted all that time being catty and missed out on learning. As for the teachers....well everywhere you go you will have some awful teachers...we have a few in my program too. There are politics everywhere...what are ya gonna do...just don't let any of that get in the way of your learning! Get your money's worth..lol...
Oh and remember you can still learn even from the worst professors, even if it is how NOT to be!

thanks for the encouragment, guys! it means alot to me. i really miss school right now (i'm taking a leave of absence.) if i could just manage to get through things without the top of my head blowing off. :angryfire i love the learning aspect...but it's hard to learn something when 10 people keep asking the same question over and over again just to get the instructor to tell them they are right. who wants to be right every single time? and lord forgive us all if anybody answers a question right before "they" can....*smh* when i get back (mid-may) i'll have an entirelly different class...so maybe it wont be so bad. cross your fingers!

Is it possible to enjoy nursing school? I'm starting in about 3 weeks and I can't wait.
