Just wanted to thank everyone that posted on the military forum . I have been mulling over the idea for about a year, and decided in Oct 2008 to begin my packet. I really appreciate the opportunity to serve , grow, learn, meet new friends, and of course travel. I am suppose to commission next week.
Personally, choosing the military made perfect sense. So just wanted to send out the good news. Also, to tell others to remain strong and positive if you are still awaiting your decision.

The "silver dollar in your pocket" is an old Army tradition called the silver dollar salute. You, as a new LT will present this silver dollar to the first enlisted person to recognize your rank and offer the appropriate salute.
Thanks for the information.. Greatly excited. Does anyone have any information on Walter Reed. I visited the hospital and it seemed pretty cool. I heard however, that there is a new hospital being built? Is this correct?
