I Got in NYU!!!

Published

Finally I have the time to post this out....got my acceptance letter last friday from NYU's accelerated program!!!:roll I am very happy but worry and nervous and confused, all that mix-feelings all at the same time; and am still not sure if i should accept this offer due to the big tuition....

i was about to decide on taking out loans and go for it but then yesterday one of my classmate told me about the big debts (due to high interest rate) ppl owes after they take out loans for private schools scares me.....she said the guy was somehow mislead into taking out about 50 thousand dollars loans and ended up owing abt more than 100 thousands after graduation due to those small "fine prints" some lenders had on their agreement....my mouth drop right to the floor and it made me think twice abt borrowing loans.....:(

i guess the decision is on me to risk it or not...so again, decisions, decisions~~

anyhow, i am still happy and again good luck to those that are still waiting~!!!:heartbeat

I am relatively new to this site and am not quite used to the online etiquette. Myself, I would never say such a negative comment to a room full of people who are celebrating their acceptance to a NYU or a private nursing school...... but that's just me. I just thought that such a discussion would be better placed in a different forum and no doubt would be a great discussion and learning tool.

So, anyhow..... I just want to say congratulations to everyone who will be starting nursing school soon!!!! Good luck to you all! :D

I agree with you, lindyhopper, and I should have focused on celebrating here.

Well, here it goes... Welcome aboard to all new nursing students!!

The journey to becoming a nurse is full of sacrifices and hardship. We are all bonded by these experiences.

Congratulations to our new comrades too :rotfl: !!!!

wow...it's been a couple of weeks n i am done w/ 2 out of the 3 finals i have this morning...what a relieved... i can't wait till the last final n the summer course to be over with n start nursing school in fall!!! i am not sure if anyone have already gotten the email from nyu regarding about the new student orientation (finally....we hear sth from them!!) so i want to post it out just incase some of you didn't receive it yet....n i hope to see ya'll on the 13th~!!! (actually it sounds like the orientation is on for 2 day straight? does that mean we have to attend both days??) here's the email i got from nyu:

save the date for new student orientation

the college of nursing's orientation program for new students is scheduled for thursday, july 13, 2006 - friday, july 14, 2006. this orientation program is for all new freshmen and transfer students. students from outside new york and new jersey will have the opportunity to stay overnight in a university residence hall. detailed information and a registration form should reach your mailboxes the week of june 12th to june 19th.

next week you will receive a packet of information containing instructions on how to register for your fall courses. after you have registered for your courses, you may obtain your nyu id card and some of your textbooks.

if you have a new mailing address or would like the orientation and registration information to go to a different address from what is in our records from the admissions office, please send an email with your name and the full mailing address to [email protected], or call the college of nursing's office of student affairs and admissions at 212-998-5317.

i look forward to welcoming you to the college during orientation on july 13th.

sincerely,

temi pedro

to swatch007:

thank you for your advice as a matter of fact i did apply to 2 other privates, beth israel and also a cuny college besides just nyu alone; i am still waiting for laguardia to send their letters out in mid-june and have already set up an interview with beth israel. the other 2 privates are my alternatives back ups which i have already turned down since i am also accepted into nyu and yes the tuition is unbelievable so i will also take bi into consideration if i am lucky enough to be accepted after the interview:)

it is true that cuny appears to be harder to get into because everyone is trying to get into a nursing program that costs a lot less in comparison to privates but that doesn't mean they are smarter people compare to people getting into privates, or vice versa; i think it all depends on the situation and ppl's choices, everyone is different:innerconf . for example if i were you i wouldn't have wasted four years just to get into a cuny (i know they have good nursing program...) but instead i would have gone into a private (does not have to be nyu it could be for example beth israel) and be done within 2 years n become a nurse already (and mind you bi does not have exorbitant tuition it's reasonable $25k and also you get scholarships), no offends but to me that would make more sense because i would be already making money after that 2 year in a private school; so to me not only i take the amount of tuition into account but also the amount of time but for others they have different views and priority.

so i guess what i am trying to say here is just that it all depends on an individual's choice...and most importantly it doesn't really matter which program one's from or which degree one has we all take the same nclex as long as we can all make it out of the nursing program n survive the real world of nursing...:caduceus: anyhow i thank you for your advice regarding on the tuition and your congrats.:p which cuny are you attending now if you dun mind me asking.

to lindyhopper,

thank you for your comments~ since you are not going to nyu which program will you be attending this fall?? congratulations to you also~!!!:yelclap:

Hi,

As for NYU's orientation, you only have to attend 1 day only. On orientation, you'll be given a introduction of the nursing program and a tour to the nursing building. Next, writing test for the transfer students (students without BS degree) and registration for the fall 2006's semester. Lastly, representatives from different sectors from NYU will attend with a lot of freebie. When the orientation is over, you can get your NYU ID and order your name tag from the bookstore (around $20 and pick up 2 wks later). Free breakfast and lunch will be provided. It should be fun and informative.

Good luck!

Hello Drizzle

I will attend OHSU's grad entry Nurse Midwifery program this July! :eek:I can't believe I have only a month until school to starts! Needless to say I am super excited! I was real excited about the acceptance to NYU but I think that OHSU is a better fit for me. NYU is a great school and there is no doubt that you will get a great education and encounter some valuble experiences. And by the way, I think you are right....... it’s all about its all about what works for each individual and it’s great that there are so many options for people who want to enter nursing. ;)
