I got my letter today

Nursing Students General Students

Published

Just to refresh you all I was given a second chance to take the NET this past July 15th....mainly because I came very close to passing the first one I took. Well....I passed!!!! :roll . I am sooo happy....I thought I was going to start pulling my hair out....lol. There is a hook to this though...I have to decide which program I want to enter...the evening/weekend program in Jan. 2004 or the full-time day program in Sept. 2004...... . The thing is honestly don't know what to do. I'm going to e-mail one of the counselors to find out just exactly what kind of hrs. the evening entails....also if I do start in the evening for the first semester can I switch to day in the second semester. There is a lot that I have to consider, I am married with 4 children (2 of them are school aged). And then on the one hand...I don't want to have to wait another whole year....but if I want to attend school in the day time..maybe I should. I was planning on taking phlebotomy and getting certified in that. I don't know...it's so much to decide. Anyway thanks to everyone for all the supportive advice and cyber hugs while I was going through all the drama with my CC.

Hugs,

Fatima

:balloons: Congrats Fatima!:balloons: That's great news!

That is awesome. Good going. Is the evenings and weekend program covering the same amount of material? If so then i can't see why they wouldn't let you go into the regular day program in the second semester. The only reason might be that they have all the seats full. Good luck either way!

Oh you're in North Jersey. I'm in South. My CC has a night nursing program starting in January and a day program in September too. I'm going through the same thought process as you but there is a waiting list for January so I may have no choice. I have to take a CLEP test for Biology Monday to even get on the list. If I pass it great. If not, I'll be there next Fall after I take the class I'm trying to get out of. Good luck to you!

Lori

Lori,

Good Luck on the CLEP test....I know you'll do great!!!

RN2Be,

That's the thing...I'm assuming they are going to cover the same amount of info. When I take my reply form down there on Monday I'm going to talk to a counselor about it. They were so vague in the letter.... If the classes run the same way as the day program....that will work for me. Nursing 107 is broken up into 4 sections: Tutorial, Lab., Lecture and Clinical...every class except for clinicals is one day a week for 3 hrs. Clinicals is also held once a week....so they may have those on Sat. or Sun. I don't know...I'm still thinking about it...my dh also wants to go to school in January for Networking and CISCO (don't ask me what those are....lol) So we're still thinking about it.....all I know is that I am not getting any younger and I have to get going...lol. Oh, and the reason that I would not be able to go to day is that in Sept. they will only be offering classes for the 1st and 3rd semester nursing students.

connie,

that's another thing....how would i study if i went to school at night....i can see myself now...cleaning, sewing, cooking dinner, playing with my ds's and then i would go and pick up my dd's from school.....i wouldn't be able to concentrate. my dh and i were talking about it today....and i think i may lean towards going in the day in september 2004....but i still have one more day to think about it.

teresa

thank you teresa!!!!! can you see me dancing here in new jersey....lol. i am very happy......i just want to make the right decision. my dh and i have been talking it over allllll day.....lol. and his concern is that if i start in the evening would i have to say in the evening....i think i would have to. so that wouldn't be good being that he's trying to return to school. i don't know what to do.....

fatima

Congrats Fatima.....I knew you would do well! I am very excited for you. Great job hon !!!!!!!

Fatima:

You know your study/non study habits. If you know you would mess around during the day instead of studying, then you need to consider that. For me, I dunno what I would do either.

Make sure to let us know what you decide. We'll back you either way!

Con

I am soooo happy for you Fatima!!!!!! I just know you will make the very best decision for you and your family. Once again CONGRATS!!!!!!!!
