I Got Accepted!

Hello!

I just got accepted into an LPN program. I start in August. The plan is to transition into my RN ASAP after completion. Can anyone tell me what to expect? What were your experiences? What kind of things did you learn? I would appreciate your input!

Time management is critical and scheduling your study time is important. Also, there's a lot of stress related to strict expectations. Try not to take it personally, and just focus on what you have to do, one day at a time.

I also am starting my RN the semester after my final LPN semester, and thought (when I started), why not just do the LPN while waiting, plus able to work then as LPN while in RN program...WELL, wake up call real quick! I have a ton of respect for LPNs, and realize the amount of work required to do well is just as much (if not more, due to time constraint of one-year) as RN students. The program requires my 100%, and I will have earned (and learned) much more than I ever imagined I would when I first started the LPN program. I'm still going to begin the RN in Jan, since I waited for the seat and my goals include getting my RN eventually anyway, but I want to work AS A LPN while I do this, and not just as a "step to" becoming an RN.

I'm going to have to agree with amjowens. Take it one day at a time. I just finished my 1st term, and I still LOVE it. It is a lot of studying, figure out what kind of learner you are (visual/verbal, visual/nonverbal, tactile/kinesthetic, or auditory/verbal) and base your study habits on that. I suggest getting LOTS of note cards (to make flash cards). Get a voice recorder to record lectures. I use my cell phone that has a gig of memory in it, that way the lecture is always with you if you have a couple of minutes.
