I got my acceptance letter for Cypress College Fall 2010

Published

Did anyone else get one. I'm looking to get to know some people for a study-group. All my friends got in last semester.

Sept 1-15. You have to apply in person at the Health Science office. make sure you have all of your transcripts with you, they prefer that you submit everything at once. Apply early, they give each application a number, so if there is a tie in points, they go with the applicant that got their application in first. good luck!

Has anyone received letters for 2011 start?? I overheard someone this past September in the nursing office say we can expect them before Thanksgiving, but I haven't received one yet and I am getting anxious.

EllieBean- I applied for 2011 as well & have not heard anything yet either.

Hi EllieBean and Meggiemarie- i've also applied for spring 2011 and have not received anything from them yet. I heard that we can expect them by the end of this month or the first week of Decemeber. Not too sure though.

Hey guys- I spoke with an awesome counselor yesterday who told me letters should go out next week.

I had to defer last semester. I waited 2 semesters. My GPA is something like 3.8 and I only have a B in Physio, A's for the others. If you dont get accepted, but are an alternate, you will more then likely get in.

thanks. do you know usually how many people apply? and how many they accept?

i think they're going to accept 80 people? 1/2 spring 1/2 for fall. I would say a good 400 people at least applied, so acceptance rates would be a little under 20%? That's my generous guestimate, and 20% seems high and low at the same time lol.

I hope I get a letter by the last of November. I'm still on the fence on whether to apply to the Cal States, and the last of November would be the deadline =)

On a depressing note, I lost my job today. Guess I don't have to worry about working while going to school assuming I get in. Has anyone heard of people getting unemployment benefits while in school? That would be sweet..

oh crap, I forgot to include the alternates on the waiting list.

The paperwork says they take a "minimum" of 40 students each cohort, so there's still the possibility they would admit over 40. Also, even though that admission percentage sounds daunting, remember that there are many factors involved. We don't know how many of those "400" have competitive scores. And for those that do have competitive scores, if they tie with another applicant, they first compare each students pre-req gpa...and if they're still tied, they look at who applied first. So the process is pretty dynamic if you think about it. Try not to worry too much guavaturtle- trust me, I know how u feel!! I'm sorry to hear about your job :(
