So, according to Georgia State, my overall GPA is a 2.98, and my science GPA is a 2.44 currently. I've applied to 4 nursing schools for the fall 2016 semester (Ga Southern, Armstrong, Clayton and Emory). I didn't get into Ga Southern and Armstrong and I'm waiting to hear back from the other two. However, i am not very confident about getting into them either. I have no idea what I'm going to do after this summer (ill be done with all my pre-reqs for nursing school) if i don't get into a program and i don't have any idea of what i can do to still get where i want to. My goal is to be a nurse midwife. Could anyone help me please? Im beyond desperate and I'm going crazy with all the stress and frustration and crying over the past few months.

Your GPAs are not competitive. You will probably need to retake any classes that you got a C in.

The average GPA of accepted nursing students in my program was 3.8. I don't think you'll get into a competitive program with your GPA. ADN programs also tend to be pretty competitive also. I think you may need to re-take some classes that brought down your GPA.

You will either need to retake your courses or consider relocating. There are schools out there that basically admit anyone, but that means that they do their weeding out during the program and they tend to be more intense. My GPA was also less than stellar, and I had no chance on the West Coast due to the insane competitiveness for nursing school, so I relocated to Kentucky just for school. You do what you have to do.
Ive been told that by an adviser from Georgia State. But an adviser from Clayton told me they wouldn't recommend that i do that. And i know these are excuse, but i got Cs in most of my science classes and science has always been my worst subject. But i know that its partly my fault cause i don't study like i should. But i think thats what i might have to do. Ill just be in school a little longer than expected.
how would i research that Horseshoe? Do i just search cheap nursing schools? Or what would i type in the search box? And is it cheaper at those schools? Or more expensive?

I have to agree with the other posters. Your GPA is probably holding you back. I would check with the schools to see if retaking the classes will even matter. Some won't count a class that was taken a second time. It may be that you have to relocate, as another poster stated as well. Maybe not another state, but just a bit further from home. I would contact some other schools in your state and simply ask what their requirements are.
Do you have relatives in another state that maybe you could stay with during part of your nursing school classes? If so perhaps apply to schools by there as well or at least contact them to see what they require.
i have an aunt in virginia that might let me stay with her. But idk how much loner she's stay in virginia. She's a nurse as well. Retired Navy.

You may have some luck on some community college ADN nursing programs. Some of these nursing programs from Community colleges are lottery based, and they only require a minimum of a 2.5 GPA to be considered eligible to apply, but again lottery will based on all odds, yet it is still a good alternative to consider. I applied to a bunch of ADN programs, and some of the programs I applied to were lottery based.
so could i do a ASN then go immediately (without working for year or 2) into a RN to BSN program?

With your gpa you would only have a shot at getting into a lottery based program, if you met the minimum to apply. You have to realize a lot of people want to be nurses, which is why the competitive GPA is pretty important to have when you apply.. Before you even apply again i suggest retaking all of your pre-reqs, harsh to say but otherwise your GPA will stay pretty low and you'll just meet heartbreak again

Hi, admittance into nursing programs is highly competitive in most schools. I have seen schools in my area reject 4.0 students. I would suggest looking at Finlandia University. They are a nice, rural nursing school with small classes and great professors that know the students. They are located in the Upper Peninsula of MIchigan. I would still suggest re-taking pre-reqs to strengthen GPA more. You want to be prepared for the program too. The minimum is 2.7 there. I was admitted with 3.1 a few years ago. Previous GPA does not always predict success. I did not care my first couple of years of school until I wanted to do nursing. I started the program, put the effort in and did awesome. You can too. The program is challenging but completely doable and has a good reputation and is accredited by the CCNE. You will get there, you just have to re-take some courses and maybe be willing to relocate to a program that will give you a chance. I bet there are many good nurses out there that were not 4.0 students.
