I found a ON-LINE LPN and RN program

Published

Jackson Community College located in Michigan offers on-line courses in LPN and RN; so what's the catch?

You have to find a hospital that will teah you the clinical components.

I'm waiting for an information packet/ phone call to find out more.

In the mean time if anyone is interested or has done this?

Please send info. on how to set this up.

I'd like to know about the RN program...when you get info please let me know...:nurse:

I wish you the best of luck and please let us know how this goes. In another forum a student nurse in a similar program (Deaconess ?) was having a difficult time finding a hospital to do specialties. No hospital wanted to take on the responsibility.

There was something regarding this in our Sunday paper a few weeks ago. I didn't read the article, but my husband briefly read it to me and it was something along the lines that there aren't enough instructors so the hospitals are going to the colleges and bringing students in to teach them. Our newspaper is The News and Observer out of Raleigh NC. Maybe you can find that article on their website. It might have been 1 or 2 sundays ago.

This sounds like California College's RT program...where other RT's take responsibility for mentoring the RT in training.

Nurses today are sooo overworked on the job I don't know if you will find a facility or nurse who would take this on. But good luck and let us know if you find one.

Well, I finally spoke to one of the instructors about the on-line nursing program and she said, The on-line program was NOT APPROVED- So, I'll have to see what happens the traditional way.

I'm also considering the RT program, at my college they request that you spend a half of day at there affilates RT program to see if this is what you really want to do- which is a great way to make sure; because, to be honest, I'm not 100% sure between the 2 (RT or RN), they both have their pro's and cons. Ultimately I want to go into the cardiovascular field as a Sonographer.

They also have careers for Radiology Nurses, so I'm a little confused in which path I should take.

I believe the RT program is easier to get into (less applicants) but, then people say that there is a higher incidence of breast cancer in Radiography.

RT or RN ??????????????

Any advice? (Is welcomed)

Hi

I called & emailed Jackson Comm. College in MI. I failed to get anyone who seemed to know about the program. Could you refer me to whomever you spoke to? Jim:rolleyes:

REPLY- That was 2 yrs ago, they weren't able to get it approved and being that I am in my 2nd semester RN school, I would not suggest that now.

If you are a LPN- there are some on-line and home study colleges and you can usually become an RN in 1 yr.

LPN to RN= ok

RN to BSN =ok

No medical experience to RN - that is not a good idea.

Specializes in ORTHOPAEDICS-CERTIFIED SINCE 89.

Im going to close this as the information sought is over 2 years old.
