Orange County NY Nurses
That's too bad about all of the drugs. I can't remember what it was like in 87. I used to hang out a lot in Poughkeepsie and I've heard that its' pretty bad there. Do you remember a DJ on K104 by the name of Tony Hawkins? I have my real estate license here in NC and I met him. He works as a realtor here.

Help Please i must do a project for school and i need to now a few things
I start Nursing School in January 2005. I had tears in my eyes when I read what you wrote. I feel that my heart is pulling me in the direction of pediatric nursing. When people ask me what area I would be interested in and I tell them, they just keep telling me how hard it would be. But my point is, I love children and feel that I could make a difference, just even to have them smile. I would love to know more! Did you go into pediatric nursing as a new grad? I am also in NC.

Orange County NY Nurses
Wow, you guys are bringing back a lot of memories for me of the area. I grew up in New Paltz! Is the crime in Newburgh that bad now? I have been out of NY for 13 years!

I found a ON-LINE LPN and RN program
There was something regarding this in our Sunday paper a few weeks ago. I didn't read the article, but my husband briefly read it to me and it was something along the lines that there aren't enough instructors so the hospitals are going to the colleges and bringing students in to teach them. Our newspaper is The News and Observer out of Raleigh NC. Maybe you can find that article on their website. It might have been 1 or 2 sundays ago.

When did you know you wanted to be a nurse?
I'm 38 but the seed was planted a few years ago when I went to visit my Dad in a nursing home. (he had alzhimers). When I walked in he was up against a wall in his wheelchair and all by himself in the hallway. He couldn't move his wheelchair because he had just had a massive stroke. That moment bothered me so badly. I just kept wondering how many times someone walked by him and didn't move him. I just want to make a difference in someones life, even if they don't realize whats happening at that moment! And I just have to say, my positive experience was when I had all 3 of my children. I had the best nurses!!!! And will never forget them!!

Encouragement for New Nurses
That was a great post. I don't start nursing school until next January but I hope that when I graduate I have supportive experienced nurses to answer any of my questions! It makes for such a better working environment also!

i need some honest feedback
Thanks Big Babs regarding info about A&P. Hopefully, I'll be able to take first semester in summer and second in fall. Then I'm on to Nursing school. This is all new to me! I am so excited being I have found my calling. I know it will be hard (especially with 3 small kids) but this is something my heart is in!!

i need some honest feedback
I am working on my prerequisites now and I only need to take Intoductory Algebra. I am NOT good at math either (had cold sweats just thinking about this class). . . but it really isn't that bad. We started with a review and now we are being introduced to negatives. So far its okay. You can do it!!!! I'm worried about Anatomy and physiology. Do you know how that class is????

Anyone look forward to being a pt in the hospital?
I laughed when I read your thread. I felt the same way with my 3rd. My sons were 6 and 8 when I gave birth to my daughter. The first night that I had her, they came up to the hospital with my husband to see us. I was starving so the three "boys" went to the cafeteria to get some food and my husband and 8 year old were the only two that came back! I asked my husband where my 6 year old was, he said he couldn't find him so then we had the hospital police try to find him. He was hiding behind a tree outside of the cafeteria because he was upset that he wasn't my baby anymore!!!!

Nursing school interview
Hi, I was wondering if anyone could tell me what to expect from an interview to get into nursing school? I passed my entrance exam and I believe the interview process is next. Does anyone know what type of questions will be asked? Or does anyone have any advice? I would appreciate anyone's help! Thanks

Help...Duke University
I received my test results yesterday. I passed the entrance exam!!! I'm so happy. I think the next step is the interviewing process. I wish I had more information regarding Duke for you! Good luck with everything!

please clarify
Thanks for clearing it up for me!! I'm going to sign up for that class hopefully in the summer. The college said that is a good way to expose yourself to nursing.

please clarify
Thanks for making me laugh! That actually made me feel better!! The scary thing for me is the unknown. I've never done this before so I don't know what to expect! And I still don't know what the person meant when she said "get them ready for the morgue". Is it cleaning them up? Just curious.

Help...Duke University
To be honest I'm a little confused right about now. I have over 123 college credits, but never recieved a degree because I kept changing majors and then gave up all together. I have 3 children and have been married for 14 years, so I thought this would be a good time to finally do something that I really would like. I applied to Watts and took the entrance exams. I passed the first section but had to retake the second. I'm waiting for those results. In the meantime, I'm attending Durham tech for some prerequisites that I didn't have. But I think I am also going to apply to Durham to at least get on their waiting list, and Johnston Community College also has a program. They have a stand by list. I don't think Watts goes by a waiting list but I'm not sure. I know this sounds crazy, but I never checked!! My friend is an ER Doctor in Rocky Mount and he told me when I become a nurse, to try to do weekend nights. He said the pay is great!!
