Please look into free clinics, you KNOW:nono: that if your sick enough to miss work you need to be seen:o This way if you have ongoing health issues, your with the same doc who can assist with a family medical leave to protect your job. I don't know about texas, but in the states I've practiced I have to report any terminations on applications... it stays with you for years. Wishing you a full and speedy recovery... and hopes of a new beginning.
Well, I don't normally defend "the man" I don't know of many places who would wait on someone calling out for an extended period, especially with no doctor's excuse or confirmation of medical necessity. And as an employee, one thing I have a very hard time with is people who make a habit of calling in. I'm not saying you did this, but I know people who do and it's just disrespectful and inconsiderate to your fellow co-workers. It puts a strain and hardship on everyone else.
Better to resign and find a job you want to do.
exactly what was the situation..were the people at the facility aware of your situation ie that you were going to out a certain number of days and when you were expected back
call and talk with nurse mgr and inform when you can come back, if they terminate you at that time try and get something in writing to the effect that you were good employee but that position was filled when you were out sick
good luck in which ever road you go down
I recently was fired from my night shift ER job, after 17 months of hell. A supervisor kept writing me up for things. In our place of employment we have what we call care behaviors, CARE. My supervisor would write that I would ask her about her personal life, and I was not respectful to her, easy to do since she couldn't do patient care to save her life, this continued for 16 months through 3 managers of our department. Finally the last month my new manager relocated her (supervisor) to another ER, I was told by my manager that my probs were over 3 weeks later after having been in charge I night I was terminated for "undisclosed" reasons. Well I now am working for a Level 1 Trauma center, and things couldn't be better. if you don't have a union you CAN be fired for any reason. Funny thing where I was working has had mandatory overtime for 20 years the past four that I worked I did and additonal 68 hours overtime in a schedule in addition to my 40 hours weekly, they are now paying 7 agency nurses overtime wages. I did not use any sick time in my 4 years there had no med errors and had numerous letters and cards from patients about the great care I gave.

Well, I found out yesterday that I was fired. To make a long story short and without going into specifics, I've been sick and not able to afford going to the doctor (btw, after nearly 2 weeks of this mess, I finally feel like me again). So I called work to talk to a co-worker in the morning and that's when I found out that I had been terminated, no call from admin or anything. It was a shock at first, but it's ok. I absolutely hated that place, had to force myself to put on a smile and go to work, etc. I look at this as one door closing and a few more doors and windows opening up for me. I can't wait to see what happens next!!!
