Whew- I am finally done with all my courses. It's been a hectic road with ill family members, 2 kids, and getting re-married in the interuum, but I am finally finished with the Excelsior ASN program. I took my last CLEPs today and passed, which was a feat in itself.
My 13 yr old got hit by a car yesterday, and believe it or not, she has NO INJURIES. She flew 20 feet in the air, broke the van's radiator and windshield, but she's OK. The kid doesn't have a scratch on her! An EMT, a peds ER nurse, and a cop all happened to be right at the scene of the accident when it happened!!! All of her xrays, CTs, labs, etc. were clear- she's hurting today, though- and still shaken up a bit.
Well, hubbie stayed home with her today, and one of my nurse friends did checks on her while I took these CLEPs (which I barely got to study for, and guessed on half of the questions- I don't recommend this). I can't believe I am done, and I REALLY can't believe my daughter is OK. I knew the MDs and some of the agency RNS in the peds hospital, so they took very good care of us.
Today is a good day. :)

Congratulations! :balloons: I know it must be a HUGE relief to be done- way to go. Thank goodness your daughter is O.K. You are one tough lady to be able to deal with all of this at one time!

Thanks- I don't know if I'm a tough lady or not, but I sure do feel like a lucky one.

I feel very weightless today...lol. Yesterday was a different story entirely. I've been hugging & kissing my daughter all day, and I woke her up throughout the night to check on her...we are very fortunate to be where we are right now. Thanks so much for the congrats & well-wishes.

first let me say yowch to the young miss flamini. i'm so glad she's ok!!! what an awful experience that must have been for her--- and you and your husband! thankfully she's a toughy.
secondly.... yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!!! congratulations!!
i was in your shoes--- i had 2 cleps left to do after my cpne. weird how the feeling after the cleps are so different from the feeling after the cpne, isn't it? after the cpne i pretty much flopped down on my back. dead. sick with relief. when i finished those 2 cleps, i had a very content, happy smiley feeling take over. done. all done.
so congrats again, little florida pal!! i'm so proud of you!!! just just knock off those little state boards and it's all over with. :)
Florida pal...lol. Geek. :) Thanks, Spazzy.
Hey Spazzy, lemme ask you a question since you CLEPped your last credits. How long did it take for your final credits to show up and get the OK to take your Boards? I'm hoping for at least the end of December- is that wishful thinking?
Laura,
I remember it taking a while. I don't remember exact details, but I think I was told I'd be eligible for boards 6-8 weeks after my last CLEP, but then 6-8 weeks later I got something from EC saying that in an additional 10-12 weeks I would be eligible. There was no way I was going to wait 5 months!! I called the main NCLEX lady at EC (Rosemary Casale--sp?) and she kicked things in the butt for me and it was about 10 weeks total. It all depends on what "team" you're on. A friend of mine finished at the exact same time that I did, and she was all processed and ready to roll in 3 weeks. Her last name was at the beginning of the alphabet & mine in the middle, so we had different "teams" apparently. Hopefully you will be on a team who knows how to get things done in a timely manner. I would think that Dec. wouldn't be out of the question, but what do I know.

WOOT!!!! Congrats! Glad your daughter is o.k. Yikes!
Thanks guys. My dtr plays field hockey- they said if she hadn't been so physically fit, that she would've been much worse off. She actually went to school today. No aches or pains since yesterday evening. It's amazing how kids bounce back from stuff like that, eh?
